Danieljc
I'm looking at buying 2 game reels either the Penn International 50 VSW or the Shimano Tiagra 50wLRSA. Both will cost the same I am just more after personal reviews or what you think is the better buy. Cost is virtually the same. Will be used for trolling tuna, marlin, sharks. I was orginally leading towards the Shimano then Penn and now I can't decide. Cheers for the help.
boattart
In terms of quality and performance you cant go wrong either way but all my game gear is shimano and services and back up is second to none. So while I'll back Shimano to the hilt I cant say anything bad about Penn but it just the gear I use.
Danieljc
I already a mixture of shimano, daiwa, and penn now but for the bigger stuff just trying to work out what is the best in terms of servicing and what just what the general consenus is. GH1952
I have run both shimono and penns over a number of years and you won't have any trouble with either so long as you look after them

Zacnoel
The shimano 50 WLRS drag system is designed to run 37 kg or 24 kg . I have run 37 on a LRS and find that if you are planning to release some of your catch , it gets them to the boat a bit sooner and as such a bit kinder on the fish. The down side is you will lose about 200m of capacity. Edited September 16, 2015 by Zacnoel
