  1. Ive now fished the last two day from Browns to heatons for nothing Yesterday was a long day we trolled all day then cubed about 3 miles north east of browns until about 4.30pm Today we fished inside browns and gave up about lunch time came in to the peak and caught a nice pigfish and that was it.
  2. Scratchie I'm out Sunday and Monday if I find them I'll let you know
  3. 30 fathoms is about five miles off the coast off the joey
  4. Great work I'd love to get my son out but he just turns green and won't have any of it. We were out in the same spot and lost a black which took a skirted lure. Tried to get bait out there but couldent get any even though we marked plenty so had to persevere with the lures.
  5. We heard about the who being caught and a couple of Marlin For us it was all zeros from the bait station down to Browns and back into 35 fm for nothing From what we heard most of the fish were south of us, but that's fishing. Good to see fishraiders getting into some rare fish for Sydney and they are great eating. There's always next week for us when the weather clears.
  6. Concratulations on your first marlin, as scratchie says the feeling will stay with you forever and is what helps when you have all those days when you draw a blank. As to eating them I've tried blacks, blues and stripped Marlin and think they all taste pretty crap sort of like eating dry cardboard. If we ever bring another in we will smoke it as I've been told they taste ok smoked.
  7. I've seen dolphins sharks and seals working the same bait ball so I can't see any reason why Marlin wouldn't join in if they are n the area At the end of the day they are all looking for an easy feed
  8. They were both there last week and should start to fire
  9. Thanks Jeff We will be up there this afternoon and your more than welcome to join us tomorrow Give me a call this afternoon
  10. Thanks for the info Jeff Let's just hope the weather settles
  11. Hi Just after some advice on the conditions of the water up at port I'm thinking of bringing the boat up on Friday weather permitting and fishing Saturday and Sunday before Bring her back. Any information on how dirty the water is comming out of the mouth as this will have a big influence on the live bait grounds and I'm not sure how cabbage tree is affected with this outpouring of fresh.
  12. No joy for us yesterday pulled lures for a couple of hours on the 60 fm line and gave up. Water was cold and green it was raining and the sea was crap with a short chop which got the better of me being rolled around hanging onto anything to stop me falling overboard. Anyway moved back into monavale and caught a couple of squire on floating squid strips and was back by lunch.
  13. I'm out this Wednesday going to try south of the bait station I'll let you know how we go I'll also be bringing the boat up mid Jan to have a try and I'll give you a call in the new year
  14. Yea Ive got a wedding the last weekend in Feb and a new grandaughter comming first week of march which means I'm going to have to work whilst the boss takes a week off after the baby is born. But as soon as thats all over I'm comming up with john and Cliff will be up there the last week of Feb for a month. Hopefully the weathers good the fishing hot and the beers cold butI can only control one of them.
  15. wHi Jeff I'll be up there in the new year some time, I don't have a firm date yet but am looking at comming up for a week in early March.
  16. I was up at Norah canyons on Friday for nothing but did see a blue caught near us about midday by the only other boat out there Water was cold in close but once past 75 fms got up to 23 deg Bait isn't stacked on the shelf yet so it's hit and miss at the moment The sea was good all day and the beer was cold so can't complain
  17. The bait station is a an area were the bait starts to stack up much the same as the carpark is up at port we usually start at 151-45 and 33-46 that will get you into the general area. from memory I think its about 80-90fm
  18. Well done Vic Nothing wrong with albies and a lot better than zeros The last lot we got I smoked and they ended up sensational.
  19. I have run both shimono and penns over a number of years and you won't have any trouble with either so long as you look after them
  20. I've tried kingfish, slimie mackerel, yellowfin and bluefin and all of them are good. Next striped tuna on board will go under the knife to try out but not sure about them
  21. Good work guys The first one is allways the hardest to get.
  22. Same thought I'm going to have a swim today to see if there's anything around the shafts or prop plus check the Skeg bearing.
  23. Just as well no one took up the fishing trip offer as it was very short lived Untied the boat and went out past the Newport arms out into Pittwater past the no wake zone . Opened up the throttles and noticed a bad vibration on the port engine. Stopped the engines and put the gear box into neutral, started the engine up and reved to full revs. All seemed ok no vibration or engine miss up to full revs, engaged the gearbox and Brought the revs up to about 1500 rpm and the vibration starts. Shut the engine down and check the gearbox oil level and all is as it should be. I think this is one for the cummins mechanics to sort out. Turn the boat around and put it back into the pen. Oh well put plan B into action a change of clothes and off to the boat show. I did hear a report on the radio of one boat out past Browns with two yellowfin on board by 8.45 am but can't verify if it was true or not.
