JET01
Had a quick session on the run out land based. Followed by a pelican from the start. Turned out to be my lucky charm. Caught a 41cm whiting on live nippers. While I was fighting the whiting in the shallows, it scared to large flatties, so I put the next few casts in the direction they swam off to. Sure as sh&$ I hooked up to the bigger one. Unfortunately it swallowed the hook and busted me off when I had it about 2 ft from the edge of the water. It was about 70-75cm in length. I didn't have my phone with me so didn't end up getting a pic of the whiting. I didn't catch enough to feed my wife and I so gave the fish to a bloke that was flicking plastics. If you're on fishraider Andy, I hope you enjoyed your dinner. Good to meet you.
Yowie
Any sand whiting over 40cm is a good fish. There are a few larger flatties cruising about, just a matter of finding them. Saw one last month, just sitting on top of the sand, not even buried in it, easily 80cm. Did not move until I drifted over the top of it. Water about 1.5 metres deep.
