antonywardle
Hi guys I have a GME TX835 27MHz in my boat. As far as I can tell its a 27Mhz radio. Problem I have is that it stops at channel 50 and the boat guys I go out with use channel 96. I'm guessing my 27Mhz radio isn't the same as there's? Any suggestions? I have the very nice VHF radio I got from a site sponsor but not yet got a license and the other guys don't have one. I don't want to spend too much on something that might be redundant in a couple of years. I have a little handhelp uniden but I don't that they will be any help. They are Uniden UH036 Cheers Antony
oz_brett
looking at the TX835 on the WWW it appears to be an (27mhz) AM CB radio in wich trucks used to use before UHF got popular your mates by the sound of it are using 27mhz "marine" channels. if you talk to a radio store they will change the channels for you but im not sure how the $ would be you have to call them. batfishing
I wouldn't bother looking at changing channels, the 27mhz are cheap, Uniden or Axis do a 10 channel unit, not sure what channels it has though, l just refused to sell them due to my own ethics, happy to get you a few prices though. Incidentally I recently had a chat with a marine rescue officer, basically they will monitor 27mhz unofficially for years to come, as I suspected due to duty of care etc. but he did believe that the government was going to legislate that 27Mhz cannot be sold shortly (this year), I have not been advised this yet by GME, so am not aware Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited November 23, 2015 by Ian Bat (Roadrunner Parts)
PM79
They've been saying that 27mhz will be phased out for years now.

My instruction book says- To select the 27MHz CB band, turn the radio off, then press and hold the 88/Pri key while turning the radio on again, The radio will now display channels 1-40 and default to road Ch 8. Repeat the sequence above to return to the marine band. I hope this helps - Norm
