Catching Mud Crabs

Hey Raiders,

First post in a long time, but I'm back now. Anyway I had some questions regarding catching Mud Crabs so here they are-

I have my location sorted. Now the two questions I have are what is the best bait to use and what is the best trap to use. If it helps I will be land based.

Also was wondering if these traps were any good-

Hello FishingGuy. Use the search section here in relation to baits for Muddies. Everyone has their own preference.

Note that not all places allow the use of traps for fishing.

Have used this one and the witches hat version. Had more luck with the witches hats. Although I haven't seen them sold anywhere recently. Have used fish frames eg. Yellow tail or other. Secured with cable tie. Good luck with it.

I don't think the witches hats are quite up to the task of muddies, you need steel, and mullet are a good bait - very oily Just my experience.
