Guest Guest123456789 Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Hi raiders, Seeking advice on a 2000 size reel? Looking to target whiting, dart, bream, trevally. Would like to be able to manage the odd flatty or salmon. Budget is sub $100. Use on rocks, beach and coastal lagoons. I was thinking 6lbs braid max and would be good to spool it with 125 metres. Using bait and lures. Will be paired with a 2-4kg 7 foot graphite rod. Thanks in advance for your help.
bluefin Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Shimano Aernos. There are some Charter operators using these and getting good life out of them, this equates to years of use by the casual angler! Save up a bot more. It will be worth it.I also have a couple of Sedona's If you need to stick to budget they are good!
TheSpiderHunter Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Shimano Sedona 2000fe, it has 4kg of drag, a 5.0:1 gear ratio and 3+1 ball bearings, it should hold plenty of 6lb braid and should cost $100 or less maybe a little bit over I'm not sure but I have the 5000 size Sedona and I love it as it is a very smooth and handles fish very well. Guest Guest123456789 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Thanks guys Sedona it is. I have the stradic FJ5000 already - great reel.
Guest Guest123456789 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) FYI I just got a deal on the Sedona FD (old model). $65. From what I can tell looking at the Shimano website, the old model has an additional 2 bearings and is a little lighter! Go figure. Edited January 17, 2016 by Guest123456789
