Mike89
Is anyone here able to help me on this? I caught what I think was a frigate some time back but am confused on the difference between the two. Always thought the mack was for mackerel, ie. a frigate mackerel. Apparently not? Cheers!
Blackfish
Put them into your search engine as well http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0012/375888/Frigate-Mackerel.pdf http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/375911/Mackerel-Tuna.pdf You will see the dots on Mac Tuna. Sorry for the quick reply .... off to work.

stevefish
Although often called a frigate mackerel, a frigate is a tuna A mackerel tuna is a tuna that looks like a mackerel Edited March 21, 2016 by stevefish
boattart
The dots on the belly are generally the easiest way to tell. In terms of eating quality they both make good bait.
Guest Guest123456789
Nice catch Mike. Where's your report mate? I enjoy reading your reports.
Mike89
Thanks for clearing this up! The dot on the belly is a good indicator. Cheers. This one I got almost a year ago now, took a chicken bait under a float on a tiny bream rod and 1000 reel. A lot of fun reeling him in! No reports in a while, I've been slack. I should put some up. Nailed a few points on my to-do list recently!
