Frigate tuna and mack tuna - what's the difference?

Is anyone here able to help me on this?

I caught what I think was a frigate some time back but am confused on the difference between the two.

Always thought the mack was for mackerel, ie. a frigate mackerel.

Apparently not?

You will see the dots on Mac Tuna.

That is a Mackerel tuna - black dot on the lower stomach area.

Although often called a frigate mackerel, a frigate is a tuna

A mackerel tuna is a tuna that looks like a mackerel

The dots on the belly are generally the easiest way to tell. In terms of eating quality they both make good bait.

This one I got almost a year ago now, took a chicken bait under a float on a tiny bream rod and 1000 reel. A lot of fun reeling him in!

No reports in a while, I've been slack.

I should put some up. Nailed a few points on my to-do list recently!
