Hi Raiders,

I'm looking for a runabout boat about 4m. I found one for about $7000. Comes with 4m Seahunter eclipse hull, 35hp Johnsons oil injection 3 cylinder (been converted to a 2 stroke) bimini, storm covers, fish finder and all the safety gear.

I've got no knowledge of boat brands quality etc... What I need to know is

1. If the price is good

2. Is the hull a reliable brand

3. Is the outboard reliable

4. What I should be looking for when inspecting and test run.

I have searched all of Google and cannot find any information on the brand of the hull.

The only brands I know for hulls are quintrex, Stacers and brooker.

Thanks Raiders.

Regards,

Best advise I could offer is don't be in a rush, stick to your intended spend, look for well known brands, test drive and wait until winter as prices seem to drop!

And remember if it's to good to be true, it usually is!

Good luck!

Cheers scratchie!!!

HI

Things to look for when going out for an inspection.

Check that the engine starts easily and that it is pumping lots of water

Check that the water gets warm

Check the prop for damage

Look for rust in the trailer

Look and see if the bearings are wearing (you might have to lift it up and roll the wheels for that)

Check the trailer and tyres (including the spare)

Check that you have a wheel brace that can take the trailer wheels off.

Check that the lights are working

Johnsons are good engines, but it depends on how its been looked after.

Sometimes the oil mixer gets disconnected and they prefer to premix the oil and the petrol

in the tank. Check the tank and the fittings. Look for hard fuel lines. They'll need to be replaced

at some point.

Not sure where you are located but there is a site sponsor who will be able to do an inspection for you.

Any help?
