The Christening

Hi Raiders,

Some of you may know I just became the proud owner of a vintage Hank Newman blackfish rod.

Early this morning I introduced it to my usual partners in crime, Trevor and Royce.

Trevor: Oh it's light, Oh yeah it's good.

Royce: It's an early Snyder 2 wrap BF144.

Both Godfathers agree it is a beauty.post-33162-0-61556500-1466328477_thumb.jpg

It wasn't long before I hooked a fish, and it was big. It must have been on for over 2 minutes, but it wouldn't tire. We had a good look at it, and recon it was around 45 cm. Alas the hook pulled just out of reach of the net.

Thing went quiet, and time was running out. I had other obligations.

Half an hour to go, after a long drift, my float went down.

I waited, waited then loaded up on another good size fish. I didn't want to make a mistake on this one.

Trevor manned the net, I gave myself some room, and played the fish out til the end.

Netted and on the deck, the ceremony was over.

A 43cm fat fish
