I would read that as yes it is! Don't forget fish move and movement creates that streaking pattern especially if you are stationary or drifting slowly! When travelling they come up as more of a pattern like photo3.

Cheers scratchie!!!

thats it not a bite the river has been like this foe a month there has to be hundreds if not thousands of tones of them

from one end to the other , i have tried every thing but bait and not a touch .

so for here it can only be 3 fish bream mullet or perch i did think bait fish but the sounder shows arch's and bait don't

do that (unless ya after big bait) these pics are from 3 weeks ago different spot but there was even more there today

I think I need to do a course or read the manual on my Hook 5, as I don't get anything like that appear. :)

So far it's just a expensive depth sounder.

You need to have fish around for it to look like that :P

I used to think my cheap elite 4x was the same, then I actually drove over a school of fish and the screen came to life.

I've played with a few settings to try and get it to perform better, what I basically found was that 'auto' is useless. I see more fish on 200khz than I do on chirp mode.

I've got it set up like this now, it allows me to fish deep and shallow without playing with settings too much, I've got my screen split into 3.

Top left: 80khz

Top right: 200khz

Bottom: Chirp

I find this gives me the best results as I can usually see things on the 200 that chirp doesn't show and I can sort of look at the 3 and get a better indication of whats really going on instead of just assuming nothing is under the boat.

Another trick I was told was to ramp the sensitivity up so you're just starting to get noise on the screen. Sure the picture isn't as pretty but you'll see fish light up a lot more :)
