Can't get into reverse ?

Hey all I noticed yesterday that I can't put my engine into reverse. Only forward and neutral. What could be some of the reasons for this ?

What year model? Two or four stroke?

At a guess it may be a throttle position stop , cable/linkage may need adjusting.

I dont know which year model , I have a photo of the engine also a video but to big

I'm hoping it's just something simple and not costly

If it was working ok and then suddenly wouldn't go in to reverse it's most likely not a major problem. Take the cowling (cover) off the motor and follow the linkage movement when you put it in forward. See if something has slipped or fallen off. Make sure it will go in fwd and rev before you use the boat. Hope this helps. BN

Have you tried to select Reverse  gear with the engine off?

So rev the throttle?

Doesn't end up in the far left part of that white section

Sometimes within the next week or two I'll fill up a bin of water and turn it on and see what happens and while the engine is off won't go into reverse

Okay cool, I'll give that a go and see what happens.

Make sure the kill switch is engaged. Last thing you want is for it to fire up whilst your turning the prop by hand.
