Exterior damage - anything to be worried about?

Look into it carefully and if there is any exposed fibre you need to glass it immediately IF there is a coverage of glass resin still then the job wouldn't be so immediate but still would be best before hitting water again, even rain will cause problems if fibre is exposed.

If I apply a white gel coat / filler does this then have to be waterproofed as well?   Or is the gel coat waterproof enough?  Im new to fibreglass boats some of the research online seems to be contradictory.

And do you have any suggestions for a product to use?  Have to head to Airlie next week for supplies.

White gelcoat will water proof it as it will be the same as the original gel coat when the boat was made in the mould.

When you repair the gel coat,  give it a couple of days to cure before you shape it.

Sanding with course down to fine when the original shape is formed.

As mentioned before try get it done before it gets dirt in the fiberglass.

Give it a good scrub with fresh water n an old toothbrush to get any salt out.

Then let it dry well before the repair.

You can use masking tape on the bottom edge to create a small dam. To hold the gelcoat from dripping away.

If you get my meaning.

Looks like it's where the side meets the bottom?

Just to add to this lightly sand the fiberglass then clean it with prepsol before applying the gelcoat to get good adhesion to the fiberglass

Yeah it's on the planing stakes on each side. Found a few more chips underneath on closer inspection.  Thanks for the tips I'll give this a go next week.

Dont think so.

Looks like its just through the gelcoat.

Those area,s should be pretty thick in the edges n corners.

Yeah it's hard to tell from pics but the gouges are only a few mm deep. The glass looks 30+mm thick on those corners
