Guest Guest123456789
Check this out - my friend mate it for me as we dropped a few 2kg+ fish beside the boat. I have my current big gaff in the photo which is not suitable for the smaller ones as the point is too wide(better for larger Jews and pelagics). i could just use a bigger net but space is a premium on my small boat and the big nets are pretty expensive also. I also hate getting hooks and fish spikes caught I. The nets. It will only be used on fish we don't plan on releasing. its just an old aluminium window wiper handle wit 10/0 suicide hooks pop riveted through the eyes. It's reinforced with wraps of twine and electrical tape. Cant wait to use it!

Lazz
Might be a good idea to flatten or file barbs on hooks so they tear the flash when you pull it out. If you haven't done so already. cheers
Guest Guest123456789
The barbs are flattened
boattart
Nice and simple is best at time...Most cairns gameboats will use something similar with stainless double hook on a pole and you'd be surprised the size of fish they can lift on with it. Guest Guest123456789
@boattart we tried to get stainless hooks but couldn't find any. I'll just wash and Inox the hooks after use hopefully I get a reasonable life out of it.
