JonD Posted October 13, 2017 Share Posted October 13, 2017 (edited) The lads at the bay smashed us with their catches of snapper in the big comp last week ( by the way I'm from Dalmeny). My advice would be to drop in to see local tackle shop for info. A friend of my daughters landed an 85cm red in Tuross a few nights ago while targeting Jews. localy in my area we've been catching our snapper on the edge of reef from 15m to 65m, some of the fish have been well off the down tide side of the reefs 100m + away from the reef but this can change by the hour. I haven't seen many snapper in shallower water while diving but that's not to say they aren't about. dont be afraid to fish light with soft plastics as well as trying bait, most of our better fish seem to go for plastic over bait.
