Kingfish

Hey guys been wanting to catch a kingy for a while now and was wondering where a good place to fish for them mainly land based and what bait/lures to run I’ve seen videos of them catching them a swansea bridge and have wondered if there a reliable fish to target in that area

Swansea is a likely good bet for most things because it's a bottleneck between the ocean and Lake Macquarie. I've seen videos of slide baiting for Kings, might be something to try. The current can be challenging and it's quite snaggy in places there. I've lost tackle and pulled in other people's lost tackle there a lot.

very hard to land them at the bridge from the shore..they just run straight thru the pylons...we chase them in the boat occasionally..live squid fished mid water..50 or 80lb line lockup and hang on..been plenty of undersize kings at the bridge and out round moon island.....rick

Thanks we do have a boat so would it be better to tie of to one of the pylons up from the bridge and run baits towards the bridge

we mainly fish the incoming..anchor up or idle into current...4th or 5th bay from opening span to the north...rick

Hey mate, I’m not familiar with Swansea but if you want to target kingfish use a live yaqqa or live squid around structure with strong line, I use. 30pound flurocarbon trase and 16 pound braid
