Bill Morris
Is this the weed you can use to catch blackfish? Also would it work for drummer off the rocks? Cheers in advance

Pafisho08
HI . The best bait for the drummer is peeled bluetail prawn pieces and burley with bread and rock cabbage is best for blackfish off the rocks but they will take weed odd times also . Koalaboi
Depends on where the weed was growing. In what sort of environment was the weed growing you photographed and posted? KB

Kevwing
I chase drummer a lot, usually i try Prawns with bread as burley. If the pickers start coming, i change to weed (find weed that is on your platform or around you) Blackies are less picky, they generally eat all types of weed as long as it is in the right area and time. If it is harbour blackies, i think you look for river weed. Edited January 4, 2019 by Kevwing
Koalaboi
Should work OK though I much prefer to use cabbage off the rocks for both blackfish and drummer. Look for a spot where the waves wash over the weed covered rocks, esp at high tide. See where the water drains off the rocks and present your bait there. Looks like pic 1 in the water and pic 2 when dry on the rocks. Scrape a bit off the rocks when you start fishing to burley up the fish. Remove from the rocks with the foot attached. Push the point of your hook through the bottom 1/3rd of the bait, straighten the bait along the shank and half hitch the foot to your line above the eye of the hook and you're in business.
