GordoRetired
You will NEVER forget your first, as other have said a touched trace counts as a capture. Good advice on keep boat in gear and swim the fish to you at the final stages of a fight. Grab hold Tightly to the bill and then someone else should be able to remove hooks. Once the hooks are out keep hold and swim the fish to resuscitate the fish before letting go of it. The way that you know when the fish is knacker is when you can swim it to the boat. Depending on line class, drag settings and size of fish that can be anywhere from a few minutes to many hours. I remember one time when we had a fish to the boat in under 30 minutes, hit it with a tag and it went ballistic, took us nearly another hour to get it back alongside so that we could get the lure back.
