Slawman
Hi All, I have a few game reels sitting around gathering dust and have started to research how I might use them for deep dropping by putting a motor onto one or two. All I have found so far is a maddly expensive setup from Hooker Electric: https://hookerelectric.com/product/penn-international-50-detachable/ And a more reasonably priced (but still US) one here: https://www.fishwinch.com/electric-fishing-reels Has anyone any knowledge of this modification and in particular if there are any Australian suppliers? I have half a mind to rig something up myself in the garage, not much to loose!
frankS
About 20 years ago I converted 2x reels into electric by using wiper motors from cars, they looked pretty ugly but worked fine. Both were stolen along with about $8000 worth of game and sports gear. No photos as I have renewed computers a couple of times since and not saved photos. Slawman
Interesting, I have a few boat wiper motors that might do the trick.....
kingie chaser
Yep they do look like wiper motors. I made a rotarytumbler out of a Toyota Corolla wiper motor for a project once. They are cheap motors, your probably paying more for the brackets etc. Would be a cool project though 😊
