pirate pete
Thinking of heading up to next years comp ( will be my first time ) and wondering if any body has entered before, any tips that might be helpful and traps for first timers to look out for. Lightweight
Hi Pirate, I went in it last year. The weather was absolutely apauling But the comp was good fun either way. I think the entry fee is worth the chance at the lucky door prises, they have a raffle on one of the days and literally give away 50K of fishing equipment, from rods and reels, GPS, tackle etc etc. (i was lucky enough last year to win a Lowrance GPS.). They also gave away a Webster Twinfisher, and a hiloday to Tahiti or somewhere in the pacific. There was also great prises for each fish category (and there is 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each). Overall i thought it was well organised, well attended and a good weekend all round. At this stage i think i may enter again... BTW, i did not land one fish that was weighed in.... Lightweight
I had a mates house about 2 mins from the Ramp as accommodation. I would book early to avoid the hassle. I know that all the caravan parks where fully booked by the time the comp was on. Have a look Here for one of the parks. LW

All I need now are a few tips and locations around the area, I have no problems with distance has anybody fished Broughton Island if so what are the best areas? Looking at Google Earth the western side of the Island looks very fishy.
