kingbonito
Was just wondering if anyone uses pike as bait? The ledge I fish doesn’t hold yakkas but there’s heaps of pike around and was wondering what would it catch and do you use it live or in a slab ? If you can use it for bait
Green Hornet
I've never used them slabbed, but live pike are dynamite on kings and jew. If you get one pre dawn, put it out under a cork in the same area you caught it and hang on tight, because at first light the kings come into these areas looking for breakfast.
noelm
Yep, lots of places live Pike was the first choice bait, it's pretty hard to get then unharmed though, they get knocked around very easy, scales fall off, or the fish just floats upside down, but, handled well, they are good bait, and best of all, Squid won't chew them to bits, I think it would be a pretty dare devil Squid that went near a Pike.
