James Clain
Hey Raiders, My first post on fishraider was this same question asking about Giant Trevally and their habitat range, That led to me heading out and getting some smaller ones at Nambucca with @dirvin21 where they are still considered exotic. (most comments said don't bother south of QLD) My next target species looks like it's going to be a Permit. Any of you guys have any experience as to where these guys are found. Sounds like I am going to head a little further north this time?
dirvin21
Hinchinbrook and the gulf of Carpentaria are the main areas I know of, apparently very hard to catch I've been to Hinchinbrook but never even layed eyes on one

They must be just a super rare fish where ever you go.
mrsswordfisherman
https://fishingworld.com.au/fish-facts/fish-facts-australian-permit-trachinotus-blochii/ Swordie tells me he saw lots of permit in the Exmouth Gulf. The fly fishos will have some insight. A beautiful looking fish.
