blaxland Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Hi Raiders, was recently gifted some old fly reels. Not knowing anything about them I'm wondering if they are worth getting refurbished or otherwise 2
BaitDropper Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Hey Blax, While not owning an Orvis myself, I can do know of friends State side that fish with them. They are a US made Fly reel. of reasonable quality, I would call them mid range pricing. I do not know the year or model type you have shown, maybe some investigation into it may reveal things. But I would clean it down and use it if you do Fly fish. I have old Olympic fly reels and a few no namers which all have been pretty well used. My oldest Olympic fly reel would be at least 45 years old, no collectors value, but I have never felt the need to venture into the top end of Fly reels, which can become extremely expensive. There's a couple of reel collectors pages on Facebook that you could ask the question if you desire, but I think you will find they were never top end reels, just US quality made, that did there Job... I luv old reels, collectible or not. 3
