  1. Thanks Lads - good sensible advice.... This is the path i will go down I've just started a new post re reel recommendations! Cheers Rob
  2. This relates to my previous post re getting rod / reel refurbished I am considering my options as far as getting my Shimano SP5000F reel serviced and fixing the drag, or just buying a new one. Reel to be used on Shimano 2 piece Aeroglass 10’ beach rod, which will have new guides fitted. I intend to use this rod for beach bait fishing and casting metals in the surf, along with a little bit of rock work. Target species Salmon, Tailor, Snapper etc. I was also thinking of 15lb line for this type of work and have a budget of up to $150, however would like to spend less! I would really appreciate input from you experienced blokes. Cheers Rob
  3. Lads, was wondering if you could point me in the right direction for getting rods/reels serviced. I have a 10' Shimano beach rod and Shimano SP5000F Threadline which are about 15 years old or so, a bit of corrosion on the rod guides and there is some sand in the reel (drag not working too well) and i was thinking about getting these serviced, rather than spend $200-300 for a replacement set up. The stuff was good back in the day, and i reckon it could be again. Can anyone make any recommendations or give an idea of pricing to do this kind of stuff....is it worthwhile? Cheers Rob

As my forum name suggests i am presently fishing from size 10 runners planted on terra firma I will be trying to get out on my cousins runabout from time to time and hire tinnies - still a way off getting my own boat sorted Would love to make it down the Mortdale pub on Sat but have some other plans - next time will be sweet Thanks for the welcome lads
  9. G'day Everyone, Looks like a top site you have here. I have found fishing again after a way too long spent away from it I've pulled the gear out of storage and spent last weekend greasing and oiling (reels that is ) and getting some new tackle. Will be heading down to Bonnet Bay in the morning to grab some poddy mullet and will have a stab out at Molineaux Point and maybe along the Groynes at Dolls Pt tommorow at High tide.....will let you blokes know how it goes. Anyway, you'll be hearing more from me in time, which is probably not a good thing Cheers Rob
