  1. Antony i love it cant fault it other than this small issue has never missed a beat is very quiet and extremely fuel efficient .. And thanks jimmy im just waiting for him to reopen lol then ill book it in with him can't wait to get back out on the water

  3. About a year ago has been out many time and always runs great also forgot to mention xd100 is the only oil used . I was going to buy the plugs and replace them but apparently they have to go in a special way and have to be positioned right I'm not sure how true that is but it kind of scared me ... Also I have rebuilt older outboards before so I do have some no how about just got nervous to touch it after what I got told about the plugs

Hey guys well as stated in my topic my 2008 90 hp etec is giving me a slight issue after start up the other week I noticed it was running a bit rough so I spoke to a marine mech about he said not to worry bout it to much it seemed to me like a plug wasn't firing as well as it should but when I gave it a little rpm it would seem to be ok . So I took it out this past weekend on the water the boat was running ok I noticed it wasn't picking up as well as it normally would and noticed a bit of a fuel smell but it was ok no issues starting or anything so brought it home put the muffs on to give it a flush as I do after every trip out it started and was sounding a bit funny almost like it wasn't running on all 3 cylinders so really not sure wats going on with it it hasn't overheated or anything like that also not sure when the last service was done as I picked it up second hand from a dealer in botany any help would be great fully appreciated as I don't want to miss out on a another summer of boating

If running xd 100 oil in the etec why is it using a 50 :1 ratio they are tuned 100:1 ratio wen using xd 100 when using normal oils they run 50:1 something don't sound right there as for fumes from the etec I dunno bout that I have one mines great no fumes,smoke or anything starts with half a turn everytime even after a month of not being run
  7. thanks guys its all sorted organised a time with zmk1962 whos in a diffenent area bout 10 or 12 ks away selected the same channel and off it went without any issues good news for me lol but thanks for all the help and support guys cheers

  10. Using 1.8m VHF gme arial it's mounted on top of the cabin (check photo) all connects are spot on and have checked it in while in middle harbour , port Macquarie , brooklyn , bobbin head on numerous occasions ..... Not sure about the squelch have no idea wat that is

Well guys have recently installed the gme 600a VHF radio with the correct antenna attached Im failing to pick up any signal on it when I hit the scan button it just keeps going through I have tried to this in quite a few different places and really can't understand why it won't pick up anything ? Any help would be great

  13. sounds like its dropping a cylinder maybe check the plugs and compression? also when where the carbys cleaned last? if u have ran old fuel though it chances are its gonna contain water in it and whatever else .... my suggestion would be to pull apart the carbys clean them up run new plugs and new fuel process of illimination really

  16. Hey guys just fitted an etec to my crestcutter got it out on Sunday feels pretty good to me just wanna know wat sort of rpm I should be getting on WOT ? I found was picking up very fast and top speed was quite decent I thought and max rpm I was getting was about 4900 - 5000 rpm does that sound about right ? Was perfect for wat I use the boat for I found my self backing it down to about 3800 rpm to cruise along just curious wat people's opinions are ?

  18. hey guys im about to upgrade my motore on my carrbbean crest cutter (see photo) just not sure what size to get i was thinking either a 90 hp or 115 hp but not sure which would be better it had a 70 2 stroke yammy on the back of it seem to move it along pretty well but lacked a bit of intnial pick up and took it abit to get it on the plane looking to get up to about 5 ks off shore

  20. Yeh I was thinking something like that it revs as it would if u were giving it throttle just not spinning the prop can't hear it engaging either :/

So guys not happy got the motor running good after a lot of work motors running good after a carby clean and head gasket replacement cylinder cover and head replacement but took it out for a run today not it won't select reverse really angry at it and to be honest quite over it so guys any idea wat could be causing this
  22. We'll some good news guys the motor is now running great after the carby jets were cleaned and adjusted ....... The jets were complelty blocked dunno how the motor was even running but a big thanks to mate Jeff and we now have a perfect running outboard big relief it was nothing to major
  23. sorry guys out of all the toold i dont have a compression tester lol but my mate is hopefully coming around this weekend strange enough i gave the carbys a bit of a clean changed one seems to be idling a lot better but still coughing and spluttering after it warms up kinda strange if u ask me i cant work it out really starting to anoy me but yeh has new plugs and things in it seems to be starting alot better also so i guess some posotives there hey i really have no idea what could be wrong with it
  24. So I wonder if this could have anything to do with the idle issue the top one is shut while the bottom 2 are still open with a few mm
  25. yeh thats what im worried about although i did pull the head gasket off and replace it they didnt look to bad which i suppose is a good sign just trying to work out why it wotn idle properly when before i took it out it had no drama :/
