gday i think you set up at the wharf have one rod set with a sp 4inch white bait may be a no. 1 ball sinker..........dont put it out.....then chase down some yakkas on the hand line have another rod set for the livey when you get one ........... when the kingies arrive hope fully you have a livey out by then ................ find a good entry point to throw your sp to put it right in front of a hungrymouth good luck might see you round

Ken__s_King.bmpyes mate have done this year only by luck was using only prawn it was my last one to 16pound line 20 pound leader no/2 red mustard bait holder only casted out waited for sinker to hit the bottom then moved the bail then tighten the line then smash drag was burning up fast ten or so min. fight had it at the surface had some other fisherman with long pole net pull it up. more luck then anything.... when the kingies are running you will see them hit the surface or loads of bait fish hitting the the top splashing around .........you need to go early morning and during the arvo.... a friend of mine always has a jig rod with 6 inch soft plastic on the side ready if we see them kingies his hooked a few but where to big and broke his line you can collect some yellow tail for live bait go down to birchy on the point send him out and waiit for them but i would go early always plenty of people but ive seen some guy do this and catch 3 legal size and a huge taylor but in summer this one was caught at birchy in feb this year since then been chasing the dream

im not a boaty yet but LB if your on a wharf people fish where they can and it does get under your skin that it feels they invade your space......... but you cant do much cause you some of these guys fish once a year and have no ettique.. what can you ???????????? nobody likes that but it is public place on the water just wondering how long is your berly trail??????????? must be long

sounds like you had some fun no squid running but you caught a few keepers well done

was 69 cm all my jewy have been around this size cant find those real big ones or any thing over 80cm im land base a jewy is better than no jewy

just quikly went out to check my local spot for yakkas throw hand line in caught one about 20cm threw out on my jewy rod was only out for about 15 mins then smash small battle then brought this one up not bad number 3 jewy

just want to say that i would never been intrested in fishing for jews if it wasnt for all your experiences thak you all champions

went out on friday night tried to get some livey's changed spots after we had a few sent them out pinned to the bottom started to berly up to no nothing i was complaining to my mate about the lack of bream ive caught this year and befor i knew it had a thumper of a bream measuring 37cm......o so dam happy my mate was sure our spot was holding some flatties so he cast one pillie out with in mins. had one angry flattie fighting over his weight divisone ....... later i was pulling in one rod that had a butterflied yakka felt heavy thinking it was a beautiful piece of weed reeled gently to preserve my weed turns out to be a not so friendly crab blue swimmer measured 70cm when claws out ... not a bad session a little quiet out there but still fishin

just learning the craft of targeting jewfish went out on friday night to land some squid then hopefully land a jewy..... having known a spot where the squid hide tried my new jig when i arrived found a group of drunkn lads that was tellin me to get of their wharf not wanting trouble left went to another spot but no luck left after 20 min went home unsatisfied decided to go back to the first wharf no one there thank god went for the squid seeming that was my first day chasing squid couldnt stop there sent my two big rods out with chunks frozen pilly berlied up for yellow tail/yakkas??? not sure are they the same.......????????any way caught one YELLOWTAIL/YAKKA put out straight away with no.1 hook a little latter caught another one YELLOWTAIL /YAKKA put staight out no sinker on no.2 hook 1 hour later gatting tired deciced to pack up slowly colapsed one small rod then the first yellowtail was leaving the other yellowtail out i was cleaning up the rubbish that was left behind then noticed my line was really tight then smash my drag was running up stream at fast rate picked the rod with my heart rate pulsing like the crazy tried not panic guided my rod down the wharf to bottom where the water still coverd it i hadnt seen any colours of this drag pulling beast un till the last 10 seconds it was the jewy i have been waiting for on the wharf in my possesion my second jewy but the one i ment to catch so happy now checked the clock it was 400 am dam the misses she cant say much if i walk in with fish like this thank all you guys for the info that i have been reading and hopefully with all your pieces of experience i will have another story
