  1. Ive got a 5.8m sportscab and it measures a total length of 6.4m. Ive asked the same question. As far as I know the only way to re badge it leagally is to re register it as a no name boat eg. home made boat.
  2. Hey George There was no significant temp. breaks - water was pretty much 20.4 deg from the shelf to browns.
  3. Went in search of fin today weather was avrage. We trolled from the shelf to browns only manageing stripe tuna. About half a mile from browns zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz double hook up on fin we lost one and got one.We contemplated cubing but realised the drift would take us straight to the car park so we descided to keep trollin around browns for another fin which we lost at the boat.Only one fin for the day at about 10kg.
  4. We headed south of browns and found the temp at the shelf start to rise from 19.1 to 20.8 east of the shelf. We trolled for 6 stripe tuna from 4 to 7kg. Started cubing at 12.00 for 1 stripey and we seen 1 yellowfin about 20kg cruise past.
  5. Yep, Im out tomorrow morning heading east of browns were there looks like a great temp break. The forecast is lookin good. Ill be leaving from BAFA in my 6m trailcraft and call sign "odyssey" on ch 21 If
  6. I was about to ask the same question as Ive planned a trip down there on the 20th may for 4 days. Ive heard a few reports of both fin and marlin last month.
  7. Mate thats awsome... and that rod combo Is what dreams are made of, I also heard of some nice will smithy's off the stones latley but i hear there fiesty little vandals.
  8. One piece glass is the way to go. I have two piece glass outriggers and had to tape the join cause in rough weather they tend to loosen and slide down. Ive always heared that alloy ones are no good but Ive never used them.
  9. The Maoris and tongans love them. Ive seen them at low tide at La Perouse fishing them from the rock pools.
  10. Ive just updated more info. More pics another another
  11. Ive posted info on threel in the workshop section.
  12. This is my home made electric reel which was used on Saturday for browns bottom bash. The motor and gearbox is from an electric golf cart. It spins at about 2500 rpm and out the gearbox it spins at about 60rpm which is perfect for driving the reel. The reel is an alvey snapper real. The rod is a cheap old roller tip. The base and bits and pieces are made from stuff I had lying around and its all fully welded for ridgidness. Its spooled with 800m of 130lb braid which filled to the brim but after the first use it tightly packed the line back on and in reality it could handle up to 1200m of 130lb braid. As for its performance you can see on fISHING rEPORTS OF THE GEMMIES AND COD CAGHT ON SATURDAY AT BROWNS. It handled 2 gemmies and 1 cod in one drop. The motor did not slow down at all and the current draw is not over 7 amps. The reels spindle did heat up due to the drag which was tight. the total weight of the fish on that drop was 8kg gemmie, 5kg gemmie and 5kg cod total 18kg and about 6mins to bring up. Motor and gearbox was baught on blah blah poop for $105 and $20 of steel, The rest was around the garage.
  13. Went out on Saturday with my home made electric reel and caught 3 gem fish and 2 cods. Does anyone know if either fish should be bled? I'll be adding picks of the reel on here and the work shop forum tomorrow.
  14. That's awsome mate!! Wish I was there but unfortunately had to work all week unlike your gaff man which had a great time stuffing your fillets up. P.S I heard of some good snapper - up to 5kg just off Sydney!!
  15. Thats awsome mate, And to land one of that magnatude off the rocks is extreamly rare. You obviously must know what your doing. I wish I was there as Im a novice and have never caught a slamon.I wouldnt mind going fishing with someone who can show me how to catch these mighty beasts.
  16. I had 5kg of drag and could have put more but I had a feeling the Rod would snap. Saturday Is looking better Saturday is looking better
  17. Only landed 1 fin and a stripey, Could have landed more if we had more bait and time. We had 5 hits but I was buggered and the wind came up.
  18. Headed out to the peak with no intention to go to browns due to the forecast. We had no fish on the sounder and after half an hour of jigging, we decided to head to browns with 2 blocks of pillies and a couple of yakkas. Stopped at browns at 11.45 and started cubing on browns and drifted in a S/W direction with 1 livie and a pillie as it was me and my father in-law. Within 15 minutes of cubing we had a double hook up. Lost one and I grabed hold of my Okuma V system outfit and held on for dear life. After 1 hour or so we managed to land a 35kg fin. With the cube trail still going it was my father in-laws go. When the pillie hit the water it got smashed without a hook up. This happened sevral times. There were heaps of fin out there but the wind picked up and we ran out of bait so we headed home with the one fin. This Saturday will be out again on channel 71 - call sign Odyssey, if anyone wants to share info out there.
  19. We also spent hours cubing only to have large stripe tuna playing with our livies with no hook up. There was no activity birds or bait,
