  1. Are you talking about the new new boat ramp on foreshore rd? There is signs saying no fishing right along the breakwall. Don't know how far the no fishing area extends as i was going to fish the eastern side. There's also security there so if you do fish there they might move you along.

I fish 6lb Sunline and have no issues, i fish a Yamatoyo rock fish leader either in 6 or 8lb, casts a dream. I usually avoid casting in high wind or try to have it against my back. Make sure you lube up the leader to braid knot before tightening it, that's where it'll most likely cut through the leader. Good Luck
  3. IMO i'd go with the sunline, i have 5lb power pro on one rod and 6lb sunline on another and the sunline is thinner and casts heaps better. The powerpro for me is a bit stiff, though it'll probably break above the 5lb rating, though i've never lost a fish on my 6lb sunline.
  4. Any pics? Would like to see the condition of the fish
  5. Golden Perch that big aren't good to eat, too much fat on em. Look for ones in the 3kg and under size and you'll be ok.
  6. Hi Raiders Was interested in giving Coal and Candle a flick in the next week or two, depending on the weather and was wondering what would i expect to catch and where are the likely spots to find them. Will be fishing landbased flicking sp's and hardbodies around and was also thinking of maybe trying to hook onto some squid or yakkas, to try for something bigger. Whats are my chances of catching some squid and/or yakkas? Is the marina at Akuna Bay a likely spot? Any other tips or information would be appreciated. Thanks
  7. Awesome fish and glad to see you letting the big girl go.
  8. Hey Jonny Nice to see another fairfield local hitting the waterways, i've been itching to try, but no one has been game enough to come with me. I've seen plenty of big koi at the konemans bridge near the pools, and the bit of water upstream that winds around the park looks awefully bassy. Nice to hear you were getting onto em, the only thing i'm worried about when going in these areas is the amount of rubbish, broken glass and used needles Hopefully we'll hear some more stuff from u. Cheers mate Goran
  9. I normally use an arm span of leader, but for poppers use a shorter length becuase flurocarbon sinks and plays up with the popper action.
  10. Yep St Clair is freshwater. You'll find Bass, Golden Perch, Silver Perch, Catfish, Carp and Eel there. Worms work well for all species mentioned and yabbys too. With lures you can try poppers or any other surface lure in the morning for bass and maybe spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits, deep-divers and even bladed lures for everything else. As i havn't fished the place personally, i'd look for stand of weed, dropoffs, submerged trees/logs or anything that would provide fish a good habitat. If the natives aren't biting make sure to take some corn or bread for the carp and they can be easily caught. Cheers Goran

Fished it last week with huge winds affecting our casting the whole day, still managed 4 rainbows all legal but only kept one decent one. Caught on tassies and spinners, done pretty well considering we packed up and left at around 10am, wind picked up quite a bit.
  12. Fitzroy Falls dam is full of carp with the odd bass and trout mixed on there. I had carp hitting lures when i was down there so, if its just some fun you want thats okay. Oh BTW you can't fish the whole dam at Fitzroy falls, only a certain section towards the south.

  16. I saw the ones you slot into your rod holder on IFISH looked pretty sturdy to me, but they didn't show any fish being hooked on it, plus the rods sit horizontally to the water which decreases the chance of your rod going in the drink ( I think...)
  17. I know with tailor and salmon you can catch with a surf popper, thats rigged above your bait which results in double hookups but a lure for jewies off the beach? I'd probably say a large shad or something along those lines maybe with some added scent so the fish can home in on it, dunno how successful harbodies will be in the surf unless your fishing inlets and such. Hey all long time lurker first time poster thought i'd introduce myself. Firstly didn't know where to put it, lately uni work has driven me up the wall, plus not time for fishing Anyway name is Goran currently at uni and i've been fishing since i was born but recently moved to lures and have been bitten by the bug and i'm more stuff then catching fish Mainly a freshwater fisho, trout the main target because they are readily available, still support and target native fish and enjoy every bit of it. So yeah, finally joined after ages of browsing and hopefully i'll add my share of stuff fishing and non-fishing related. Cheers fellas Goran
