  6. Hi Raiders Just got back from a week up at Terrigal weather was bad and swells were up which was very dissapointing after looking forward to this family holiday for so long. With the forcast of rain all week and three meter swells 25 to 30 knot winds this meant that fishing out of terrigal would be a no no so we decided to get the kids out of the house as they were driving us up the wall. We decided hit brisbane waters and find a spot that we could get away from the strong wind, after finding a nice little protected area we tied upto a mooring and got out the kids rods pink and blue got out some prawns and it was was instant action kids were loving it They caught bream ,snapper, whiting, flathead all throw backs but it was so much fun for them and great to see smiles all round. As it was getting late i decided to untie from the mooring and do a drift as the wind had started to carm down i decided to strip a piece of sqiud and flick it round like a soft plastic after 3 casts the line started to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i was on .using 4 pound line i had to be patient as the fish kept on running it took about 5 mins then i coudn't believe it a nice jew comes up. What a bonus the fish went 72 cm and a pb for me. Nice way to spend the afternoon. Then driving back to sydney yest lost one of the side clears on the boat had to be on the freeway i wasn't happy when i arrived home.

  9. Nice Kingy mate. I know how you feel lost an anchor the other day aswell but the kingys seem make it all worth it.
  10. Hi Raiders Tuedsay night did a allnighter started of collecting squid in middle harbour ended up with 7 so of to Cliftton Gardens to anchor up for the night hoping for a nice jew. Dropped two live sqiud down and in seconds both rods were getting some action only to find tailor destroying my live squid Thought to my self i'll save the squid for the morning for the kings. Got out the hand lines and started catching some small yakkas, rebated with the yakkas and went into the cabin for a rest. Got up at 4.00 am to check the rods yakkas were gone. Rebated this time with squid and went back to sleep untill i woke up to a screaming run on my shimano torium, thought i was dreaming for a split second locked up the drag and set the hook and the battle was on. After a long fight i knew this was fish wasn't a jew just to powerful it was a big king 95cm With the king in the boat at 6 am we stayed another hour until we moved on to try another spot. Heard a lot of talk about the colours so of we went arrived to find 6 or 7 boats already there dropped another squid down and it was an instant hook up another king this one going 76cm Did two more drifts with no result so headed for home a top day on the harbour with my cousin Lawrie.

  13. Hi Raiders Went to browns today on a charter boat Headed out in sloppy conditions in 20 to 30 knots winds and 3m swell just had to hang on as the conditions were not so good but forecast was for winds easing for the arvo. Trolled skirts a little but no hook ups so we decided to cube and at the same time the put out a shark bait and it didn't take to long for a mako to come up the trail and nail the bait. As soon as the hook found its mark it was'nt to happy as it jumped out of the water and took off on its first screaming run. It took around 40 mins to land my first mako and boy was i stuffed afterwards.
  14. HI SHAUNE I have a garmin 400c they are a great unit and very easy to use i'm very happy with it. It does the job no problem and colour screen in my opinion is heaps better than black n white. Also something to keep in mind if u were to buy a combo what happens when something goes wrong and warranty is finished it will cost you a heap more to replace the same unit compared to buying a fishfinder and gps individually. Hope that helps i know its hard decision.
