  1. Awesome read again Mako Is there anything you can't catch It was a shame about the snapper that got away but at least you got to fight it most of the way and you got to see it. As far as the shark goes you're a brave man and it's great to see the shark shield isn't just a gimmick and it actually works. You should send them an email and tell them your story as I'm sure they'd appreciate the feedback. At least you got a good feed that night to. What did you do with the Snook do you just cut the fillets off and what are they like to eat? Thanks again for the good read and the extra tips you gave us at the social day. Brad
  2. Congratulations Mick on the 1st Jew in the yak. I had to laugh when I 1st read about the bloody paddle, sounds like something I would do 2 jews in the 1st 30 mins what a cracker of a start well done Brad
  3. Hi Paul, Top report. Got to love using the kids as an excuse to get out on the water I'm always telling my wife that that kids will love it, only my boat is to small and not safe enough to take them both so I keep pushing the fact that I'll need to get a bigger boat. I'm sure Mitch is just loving spending time with his dad and I bet it won't be long before Mitch is pulling one of those 40cm+ bruisers from the arse end of one of those boats Nice EP and what kind of fight did the mullet give you? Some of those bull mullet's go pretty hard. Brad
  4. Thanks fellas we had a great day and caught some great fish and the weather was brilliant, cool in the morning then the sun came out and the water was like glass. It's a shame we didn't meet up Paul but how did you go out there anyway?
  5. Yesterday was an awesome day not just for the fish but I had the chance to fish with fellow raider Johnno and after a slow early start we managed to get onto some good fish. We arrived at the ramp at five dock only to find some careless person had left at least 50+ filleted fish carcasses, some undersize at the base of the ramp which now has a great jetty to walk your boat out and it looks like there finally trying to sort out the old parking issues. We were on the water around 3:30am and plans were to head East of the Bridge for a squid session when we decided to turn around due to poor visibility. It was my first time heading out under the bridge at night and it makes you appreciate how awesome our city is and how lucky we are. We started squidding around some of the wharves with no luck, but all was not lost as we noticed lights turning on in the buildings around us and people were getting up to watch the World Cup Final. Thankfully Johnno's great fishing vessel had a radio on it so we had the best of both worlds and got to fish as we listened to the game. Doesn't get much better or does it? We kept moving around and after some knowledgeable tips johhno received from Stewy we were getting amongst it. We were fishing mainly with blades and we were landing a lot of undersize or just legal bream but we were happy, even though we had both hooked upto some good fish only to see them swim away from the boat after the hooks had pulled Later on Johnno fires a nice cast and zzzzzzz his onto a good fish and he gets it back to the boat only to have me knock his coffee into the water as I lent down to net the fish. After a few tense moments and johnno repeating forget the bloody coffee the 31cm specimen was landed and it was high fives all round. Then the very next cast zzzzzzzzzzzz Johnno was on again this time there were no hassles and the 37cm bruiser was in the boat and high fives all round again. After I landed a small flatty and whiting we decided to have our last few casts when I yelled I'm on again Johnno but it doesn't feel like much. Boy was I mistaken I then said nah this is a good fish good fish and after the first glimpse of the fish we knew this horse wasn't ready to give up without a fight. After some scary moments and numerous lunges from the fish we had her on board. High fives again and we put her on the measure and broke the 40 mark with a 43cm tank. We got some pics weighed her in at 1.2kg and let her live to fight another day. Well that was it for me I decided to finish the day on a high and see if we could get Johnno onto her brother but no luck. We then packed up and headed back to the ramp. After we cleaned the boat up and checked it out I left Johnno's with a day I'll never forget. Johnno for an awesome day P.s. Let me know if you need some company again and maybe we can try and crack the Georges River Jewies
  6. Hey Johnno Well done and Congrats on the new Pb Sounds like I missed out on a great day on the water. Those bloody Pike have cost me a few good lures to. We'll have to get out soon Brad

  13. G'day BB nice Salmon on 3lb would have got the heart pumping. Hope your luck changes on Friday and good luck for the bream comp.
  14. Great report Poddy Trapper. What a champion you are Jayden great tailor on light gear. Nothing puts a smile on my face more than having a flick in the bay and getting my popper smashed by a big bream or whiting or in this case a fat tailor like yours.
  15. What an awesome day Perfect weather great location and an awesome bunch of raiders, I'm just annoyed I didn't get to speak to everyone. Big thanks to Stewy and Donna and all the moderators, volunteers and instructors on the day especially Mako for his sound knowledge on rigging lures, knots and working plastics. I'd also like to mention Johnno for chatting about his boat sharing some tips. Can't wait for the next one. Congrats on the whiting Pete and it was a shame you couldn't make it Roberta it was a great day and I look forward to saying hello to you at the next social. Brad
  16. Well done JOCO What a great session and Congrats on the breaking the Kingy drought. Were the Bream and Trevs caught the same way? I'm trying try to get out next week sometime and have a crack.
  17. Well done BB. Nice report and pics. Even better when you can claim them on your own homemade lures. I tend to stick to the southern side of the bay myself. ACIMA
  18. Top report PT and Congratulations Jay on the new PB. You did a great job getting that croc in especially after seeing that hook.
  19. Nice work Hodgey. You're arms must be sore after all those Ep's. I can't believe you're game enough to throw blades into that sort of territory but I guess that's why you always come up with the goods.
  20. Thanks guys I know Bella will be grinning again when I show her your replies. Yeah I wasn't quite sure myself what type of fish it was, then someone said it was a Sergeant Baker. I Guess Bella wasn't the only Grinner out that day
  21. G'day Raiders,Sorry for the late report. Took the family out the Hacking last week for a pincic lunch and after throwing a few plastics around the boats in some of the bays I'd thought I'd better mention Bella's(4 year old) NEW Bream PB of 38cm. I was a bit nervous when the bream 1st hit and nearly pulled the rod out of her hands but she held on for a few more good runs, then landed this cracker as she calls it. I also managed to get my 1st Sergeant Baker which went 69cm also on a small softie. I thought it was a big Flattie as it didn't do much at 1st then some head shakes then just dead weight again.

    Squid

Hi Fishbones Great report and I hope you got onto some good Jewies. Do you have any tips on where and how to catch squid in the hacking. Have tried a couple of times and gave up.
  23. Thanks Kingpig, What pound line were you using and did you just pole them up or did you have a net with you. Did you throw any hardbodies or poppers for bream or whiting from the beaches?
  24. Well done Pete that's still a cracker fish and sounds like you got onto a few fish that's all that matters. It will be pretty tough to beat that PB now
  25. That's an awesome result Iceman and Neil Congratulations Were you using very light braid or Flouro straight thru Iceman. Congratulations to Cid for taking out the kayak title
