  1. Cheers Brendon Yeah that's what I meant, I'm guessing the water runs reasonably quick where it comes out
  2. Thanks Guys I just jumped on Google Maps found found them How close do you get in when fishing them?
  3. Hi All I have been reading a bit about the power station water inlet and outlet in lake Macquarie around Dora Creek, does anyone know where they are and has anyone fished them? Cheers
  4. One word... RIDICULOUS! Whether the laws are fishing laws, boat laws, driving laws etc etc laws are put in place to protect people and environments in this case. Fishieries and police do a great job 99.9% of the time but this is a case of some numbnut who is p*ssy whipped at home and its his only chance to have any authority in life. Its a bit like the cop who pulls the driver over and fines him for doing 53 in a 50 zone! The poor old blokes with a few extra handlines are hardley the ones causing problems to the environment or others. Some people need to pull their heads in!
  5. Very keen to know how you go.
  6. Cheers Leo Whilst i have 4wd i might give the beach lauch a miss as not very experienced on the sand. Is there anywhere near buy with a better ramp where i can still get to Towoon Bay to fish? Cheers
  7. Hey Guys I have a mate who lives on the Central Coast and he wants me to bring my boat up so we can go fishing in Towoon Bay I've had a look on some maps and it looks there is a ramp at Towoon bay on the south side. Can anyone confirm this and tell me what the ramp is like. If there is no ramp can any pouint me towarsd the closes launch point. Cheers
  8. Nice looking fish Pete Good Work! Two questions for you: Were the squid live or did you buy them? Do you use a 1 or 2 hook rig when using whole squid. Cheers
  9. Hey All Was wondering what the general concensous was on the clarity of water in our esturies and rivers at present. Do most wait for the water clarity to get a bit better or is a matter of looking at differebnt baits and maybe going with something with a bit more smell then say fresh bait? Does anyone put anything on their livies when the water is murky to give them some added scent?
  10. Hey Rodlox If your launching from Murrays have a go just on the inside of bowen island outside the bouys marking the no go zone.
  11. Diablo You can pump them at low tide at church point opposite Scotland Island.
  12. Thanks Mimyo I assume Jew Bay is just short for Jerusalem Bay
  13. Hey All Am planning a session on the Hawkesbury to have a lazy fish around the bridges for a few jew and was wondering, is there any where west of Juno Point or in Cowan that is worth having a crack for some squid and live bait or am i simply best to head to West Head pick up some Yakkas and flick a squid jig around there? As i will be launching at Mooney or Parsley Bay and fishing the bridges, just trying to reduce travel time and increase the fishing time if there are a few spots closer to where we want to end up fishing. Cheers
  14. I have looked at heading there a few times but have never done it. Always end up launching in Callala Bay and fish JB. However, from everything i've read i can confirm its definately not 17km
  15. My bet would be a Jew Flathead scales are not big at all. Very small compared to other fish of the same size.
  16. Dicko i'm a few weeks from getting on the water gain so a pic would be sensational! Cheers
  17. Cheers Dicko Does putting the rubber band or cable tie through the eyes kill the fish? Also is there any secret to making sure the yakka doesn't spin? Spooled, the yakka will be what ever size i find.
  18. Hey Guys Hoping you can help me out with some ideas for rigging Yakka's. I have two scenario's 1. How do you guys rig them for trolling on a down-rigger? 2. Do you change the rig if you are anchored and are simply live baiting them? Cheers
  19. locodave, when your in these bays do you fish on the banks in the deeper water or do you get closer to the back of the bays where it starts to get shallower (i think that have some sand flats at the back?).
  20. In addition to the rig change the others have mentioned, depending which way the wind is blowing, you can also tie a ballon to the main line and let the wind take it out further and away from any other lines you have in the water. Depending where you are it is possible to have lines out at different distances off the bank and at different depths as you can adjust the depths by where you put tie the ballon to the main line. However if the wind is blowing towards you your stuffed using this method.
  21. Hey All Anyone know of a good charter operator out of Adelaide chasing Snapper? Also anyone know when the big snapper are on down that way? Cheers
  22. Mate feel your pain... Was fishing under the Road Bridge in the HAwkesbury one night when my mate was onto a fish i put my rod into the holder to get the net for him, only thing was i missed the holder in the rush for the net and rod went over.... A lazy $500 over board.... that was about 2 years ago now and still not over it... Can't even blame anyone!
  23. Maybe a good business venture for Raiders... We could establish a Fishraider bar on King Street Wharf with the ability to fish from your bar stool... You'd want to hope you were single or your partner loved fishing because you wouldn't be home much if it was a reality!
  24. If nothing else i'm positive you'll catch some fresh air and some vitiam D...
  25. I have a set of "Good luck" hooks wrapped in paper. They were my great grandfather's hooks and i'm guessing they are 40+ years old. We call them lucky as we've always made it back safe and sound from all trips... Bit of a superstition....
