  1. Hi all, I've just purchased a Daiwa Seajigger 305 - hoping it comes in this week... was wondering which areas you guys like to fish at during winter for salmon, tailor etc. I want to stick with the beach for now before trying the rocks. I'm looking at using metals rather than bait. I hear narrabeen has been firing pretty well lately. Also, what sort of reel and line would you recommend for this? I was thinking either a 4000 sized Stradic Ci4 or a Daiwa Seagate Light 3500H. For the line, i was thinking 20lb fins or maybe power pro. Any recommendations would be great Cheers!
  2. Hi all, Has anyone had luck with bass fishing at the Nepean River lately in Penrith? I've never ever fishing here and it's pretty close to my house so wouldnt mind giving it a shot when i get a new baitcaster combo. Any tips on where to go? Pylons of the M4, weir etc? Am keen to try with hard bodies and surface walkers/poppers. Cheers!
  3. 2-4kg trion - $99 2500 sedona - $70? 6lb fireline - $25 that's probably what i'd pick as a set up. will be light enough to use comfortable for extended periods. you can use it to flick for bream, whiting etc too.
  4. I've got the 2-5 kg trion tournie and use either a 2500 saros or 2000 sol. Both balance it nicely. I've got one spool on each spooled with 4lb fins and haven't had any issues. Highly recommend it. Fireline is good also.
  5. I've got a 2500 Sienna FD with the newer style lip, i had 6lb fireline on it and got a fair few wind knots I've also got a 2500 Saros F with the same lip, one spool with 10lb Sunline Super PE, the other with 4lb Fins braid. The Sunline for some reason keeps getting wind knots all the time, whereas the Fins has never had one yet. Although the design would play a part in line maintenance, i think the line itself plays a bigger part.
  6. this is what i wanna know too im thinking of getting one when i get my 2000 sol
  7. bought the magazine this morning and read your article. awesome read and awesome pics. well done
  8. wouldn't 15 lb be too much for the rod? Would a 2000 be to small? supposedly this is the closest size to my 2500 saros as well as 50 grams lighter.
  9. Hey all, I currently have a 2-5 kg trion tournament paired with a 2500 saros. One spool with 4lb fins the other with 10lb sunline super pe. I mainly fish landbased for bream, flathead, whiting etc but wouldn't mind try for jewies. I also use plastics, hardbodies and every so often I'll use bait. I played around with a 2000 sol and really liked the feel of it. Which size sol would be closest to my saros? What size would u go for with my set up and type of fishing?
  10. i use braid now. one spool has 4lb fins, the other has 10lb sunline super. you can get sunline super 150m spool for 35 dollars. less for fins and fireline.
  11. im leaving the bates for a while to practice using SP and HB lures. I'll only use bait these days if fishing for whiting. nothing beats live beach worms
  12. 119 for the rod and 169 for the reel. Tested it out on the w/e using sps and small hardbodies. Casts really well and feels balanced. Love this combo.
  13. ended up with a bit of an upgrade... ordered in 7ft 2pc 2-4kg trion and was told it was ready to be picked up. went to the store and was told they had to send it back as they were sent thr wrong one. instead i scored a trion tournament bream 2pc for the same price. also picked up a saros 2500 and some 4lb fins to use on one of the spools hoping to test it out this weekend
  14. get some plastics and jig heads and give it a go. my first fish on plastics were flathead. they eat almost anything so they would be a good first species to try and target. any plastic that has some sort of tail action would be good. check out the gulp or squidgy range
  15. would 6lb fireline with 10lb fluro be too heavy when using an SX40? i wouldn't mind going down to 4lb fireline and 6lb braid but im concerned if a flatty takes the lure then he'll cut through the fluro.
