  5. Hi fellow raiders, My friend and I are passionate fisherman and were hoping we could get together with some fellow raiders to learn how to target salmon land-based around the harbour, Manly, Long Reef, Botany and Cronulla areas as we have heard reports of large schools of salmon around atm. If anyone is planning on going in the coming weeks we would love to tag along and pick up some pointers. Thanks

  12. Caught my first king ever from bluefish point. Definitely need to be experienced to fish from there, proper gear is a must. People just dont take enough caution.
  13. Nice catch man, glad to know those kings are still around. Still hoping to land a legal one
  14. Dont worry we all go through trouble when owning our first boat. Just makes us more careful in the future. About that travel calm ginger, I tried it once and it did not suit me at all. I was sea sick the whole time out and to boot wasnt feeling well after the trip as well. You need to find one that suits you, dont just try anything that you grabbed on the way to fishing. Bad luck about your trip, but look forward to your future trips! Good times to be had,
  15. HOLY SMOKES....... speechless
  16. Great catch there Peter. Always good to hear fishos helping each other out. KUDOS to you mate.
  17. nah definitely not the only ones not getting into the kings. Been out with a fellow raider, trolled for hours and hours around the gap, colours for donut. Gona try botany bay maybe, at least get into some rats and maybe a legal as well.
  18. I believe they are sold in the market, under the name ling fish. White meat. I remember having them grilled, the meat was firm and chewy. DOnt think the fish shop did it justice. Wasnt to my liking anyway. Nice catch OP, did it put up a good fight?
  19. Man I love mud crabs. Done with ginger and shallot yummo! Congrats.
  20. Have a strange feeling that the whale might have rescued that kingfish instead of eating it. Kingfish: yo mother whale, give us a fin here? Whale: Sure thing brother, ill just sit on his line. Kingfish: cheers mother whale, just curious you aint gona eat me are you?
  21. WOW thats amazing, probably scary at the same time as welll. Hump backs feed on krills, small shrimps.

  23. Hi there fellow fish raider Me and a mate would love to join someone for a fish. We have been fishing for about 2 years now but still learning the ropes, we are both mid twenties and easy to hang with. We can bring tackles and bait, also glad to share the cost of the day. We are located near botany bay but happy to travel to your boat ramp. We are hoping to learn from some other fisho to land some bigger fish. Love to hear from someone whos looking for company while fishing. Please PM me for contact details and such Cheers Jason (Me mates name is george)
  24. G'day Raiders Went out on the bay on mothers day with Scott Lyons and 5 other fellow fishos. Had a ball of a day, the weather was great and the fish were in numbers. Not to mention the water was as flat as anything. We started in the middle of the bay with a ripper of a start. We landed a few breams then followed by 4!!! legal snappers, the biggest going 31.5cm landed by me. A very happy camper. We totaled 7 keeper breams and 4 snappers in the span of 1.5hours. The skipper called a coffee break all round to celebrate the good start. After the little break we trolled some lures towards travelly alley, it was a bit quiet but I managed a nice fight with a bonito. The water was beautiful and clear, one of the clearest I have seen in the bay. We anchored in 4meters for yellow tails, I could see the bottom of the reef no problem, crystal clear. No success with live bait at this spot however, but after moving around we picked up 10 yellow tails and it was off to the drums. Just want to mention again how great the weather was , what a day to be on the waters! We started off with some reddies which got me a bit worried. We had set a yellow tail up, while we targeted travellys. Hoping for kings on the livie we landed a rat king on the light setups. Next thing we know the yellowtail gets smashed and we were pretty confident it was a nice size king as it pulled line off the 30lb setup. It turned out to be a 50+ bonito. We got a decent number of travellys around 8. Decided to end the trip drifting for flathead. Didnt spend too long as they werent home. All in all a great day with everyone taking home a good feed. Thanks to the guys that were with us, great bunch of blokes and thanks to Scott for the great day out. Here is some pics if i can manage to upload them Regards Jason
