im just a wannabe home chef. Albie tasted great, it had a very light tuna taste compared to some of the other tuna and this one had heaps of fat which gave it a very nice buttery flavour. Duckegg, the dishes were: Tuna belly sashimi, Spicy Tuna roll Soy Miso Carpaccio, Tuna with green tea soba noodles Tuna, zucchini, and jalapeno salad.

I thought I might wet everyone's appetite with the result of yesterday's catch. . .

Trolled today from the shelf to browns for a few stripies with one caught right on top of browns just as we were stopping for a bottom bounce. Unfortunately no gemmies yet and the mountain was barren on the sounder. We decided to head down to the southern canyons and about halfway ran over some albies. There were a couple of birds working the area and water temp was around 18.6-18.8 deg. Albies were around 10kg mark. Other than that, no bluefin or yft that we were hoping for. Didn't hear much being caught on the radio today. Did anyone else get some tuna today?

will also be heading out from Sydney. Will probably go to browns then troll to Stanwell canyons or heatons, haven't decided yet. Will be on 21 "Dangas"

Hit the peak only to find jackets then went to the botany wide fad. Got a few just legal dollies then went back inside. Beautiful conditions out there today and water at the fad was 24 deg and nice colour. Kinda wish I bought some bigger trolling rods and kept going wider.

Went out sat and caught a whole heap of fat stripeys. There was a good temp break around the peak from 23-23.6c Could've kept catching them all day. But decided to have a poke around browns and came up empty. Browns was lifeless with not much coming up on the sounder. Even the charter guy was finding hard going. Lost a few baits but no fish. Was hoping the gemmies would be around early. Trolled around for a bit for zero then decided to head back as the wind was starting to pick up. Left around 2pm and caught some more stripeys on the way back in just south of the botany fad. We did hear about some blues being lost around heatons but decided it was too far and too late in the day. The tuna were mainly hitting the feather lures, and some even got caught at 12-15kn !! We also hit the botany wide fad and it seems all the dollies from the previous week had all gone. There were some spearos working the fad which may have scared them off but we tried throwing everything at the fad, pillies, live yakkas, etc. with no luck.

Lets wait and see ... probably still out on the water or cleaning up. Hopefully the guys today have had some luck. Im looking to head out tomorrow myself so i will be waiting for good news

Well done mate. I was out there with you at Heatons on Friday too but decided to head back in to browns as it was getting late and missed out on the bite. Spewing when we started hearing boats hooked up on the radio.

Awesome thanks for the heads up. There have plenty of juvenile blackies being caught further north over the last few weeks. All within short distances from the coast. Seems like they have reached sydney.

Thanks for sharing Dan, Pretty much the same story for me last thursday. Water temps are hovering between 19-21deg C in and around the bay but not much happening.

Trung, you are a champ. What a top session.

I regularly go offshore and i recommend taking Travacalm if you are prone to getting seasick. I always encourage all on board to take one tablet 30 mins before heading out past the heads. I have seen too many people who thought they didnt get seasick go green once further offshore. The ones i trust are the "blue" Travacalms. Dont get the "Orange" ones, they are the ginger pills and dont do crap once you are hit hard offshore. The ET pills are good but pricey and a hassle to get. They contain the same substance as Travacalms but with "Caffeine" added to help you stay awake. The side effects of any sea sickness pills is severe drowsiness. The caffeine helps to relieve the drowsiness. If you get the blue travalcalms and take one with a "no doz" caffeine tablet, this will do the same job as ET tablets.

Honda four stroke all the way. The new BLAST technology sounds awesome. But i just love the smoothness and reliability of the hondas. I trust the level of engineering and design that goes into Honda four stroke engines whether it is for Marine, Cars, Motorcycles or even lawn mowers. I believe the BF150 is based on Honda's K24 4cyl engine design which is a proven engine in their automotive range. This engine is highly regarded in the automotive industry and has been engineered to a level which is in many ways superior to most other 4 cylinders in the market. The k24 is found in the Accord, Euro, CRV, and in the high performance Integra's. You can probably tell that i like my Honda's. The BF150 is the way of modern engines. The E-Tec is still using old 2-stroke albeit direct injected.

gotta keep trying mate. at least you ended up with a couple of fish to take home. There are plenty of jackets out in force atm. i went out on the saturday for a couple of drifts out that way only to lose several sinkers and rigs to those pesky jackets. better luck next time.

Same story with us as well...planned to head down south to the Hump on saturday and was stopped halfway from hacking due to the southerly. Conditions were like a washing machine so headed out to jibbon for a few drifts only to find jackets between the 30-60m mark. very few flatties far between mainly undersize. Just a waste of time. Lost about 7 sinkers.

I agree with Slinky re: "Furi" Sharpeners... they are very easy to use and keep my knives very sharp. Even my cheaper knives stay pretty sharp using the furi sharpener.

there were a few reefs but they were at least 20-30mins from the dock. Hi Sam, lol that was coincedence, trust me we didnt plan that move.

nice catch, im very suprised to see there are still plenty of bonnies around this winter. They all look like the same size we have been catching all through summer and autumn. Nice squid too, i see you are still pulling in some big ones. cheers Dangas

Hey mate, gotta love vietnamese cooking. The good old "canh chua" is the solution for every time you dont know what to do with a particular fish, its either make "canh chua" or "ca kho".

yeh mate tried drifting in 50 from maroubra to cape banks several weeks ago. didnt have mych luck. we were plagued by jackets and lost plenty of rigs
