    Rock Fishing

personally i find using gangs has a hookup rate poorer than singles is there a special way you should strike with gangs?
  3. yeah for sure. Better just play it safe til I can save up for a boat
  4. what type of action do people give xraps? I have an xr-12 which is a shallow diving slashbait Is it just crank-rest-crank? Cheers

    Rock Fishing

try to fish the edge of the wash as well, instead of just smach bang right in the middle of it. Might result in fewer snags as well?
  7. nice report as always but it just reminded of the flies and mosquitoes that summer is going to bring... UGHHHH
  8. yeah definitely the oysters, and they seemed like the shape of bull mullet.. bream are usually a bit deeper, these were thinner. There were some dark looking small fish working around the surface.. I think they're poddy mullet though Couldnt see much about the triangular fish, didn't catch any of them
  9. Hi guys I was having a fish at cowan and saw some pretty big mullet looking things feeding off oysters on the rock i was standing on. A few other ones playing around the surface, and some fish that sorta looked triangular What are they most likely to be? Is there any way to bait an oyster?
  10. check on youtube thats what im doing impossible to tie if someone explained it with words haha doesnt look that hard to tie im going to try the improved albright... first gotta take the 15lb off my spool and put the 20lb on
  11. how's it travel through the guides ray? i've been using double unis for 10lb line to 8lb vanish.. its okay i guess. Wouldnt mind it being more low profile
  12. hi raiders never used line this heavy before so I was wondering what knot I should use? I'll be using it to spin x-raps from the shore, probably using 1m of 40lb black magic (enough?) is a double uni enough? Or should i go albright?
  13. very well explained monch thanks a lot! I think i may have been burying the hooks too much before. I tried threading the circle through a bait and then leaving it exposed J hook style. Hard to hookup like that though. Cheers
  14. Hi raiders, Always wondered how much hook tip should be showing? A decent amount or should be mostly buried within the bait? Also, with circles, the hook tip points down into the bait. Is that a problem? I've always thought a fair bit of the hook needed to be exposed so it could lip hook the fish. I thought maybe as a fish bits onto the bait it will expose the hook (sorta like how weedless rigs work), but what if the fish just scoffs your bait whole? Then when you strike it'll just pop out of its mouth right cheers!
