    Line

except that platypus super 100 crap...terrible stuff that gets nicked/kinked too easy. i've been buying ande from bohm BnT
  2. i reckon "rogue" waves are more likely on the falling tide...based on years surfing and rockhopping. ever noticed after the top of the tide the swell seems to back off? you still get the odd decent set punch through (vice versa on the low tide turn...more consistent swell on the rising)
  3. At least the beers stay cold on hairtail nights as for actually catching them, no thanks, bloody things...
  4. the reason for the guide configuration is by having the line leave the rod tip from under the rod, you get less torsional (twisting) force on the rod, which the angler would have to fight against, than with a standard overhead setup. this would be especially the case on heavy overhead gear (say 30-50lb braid) that buschy seems to enjoy using on GTs, reef ooglies etc, on rexy's show.
  5. ya mean jew bait... very nice. were ya in the harbour or off the rocks?

    Dead Fish

you get plagues of pelagic leatherjackets around FADs and flotsam i have read. what would be the effect of severe weather courtesy of a tropical cyclone be? the timing could be right what with the recent TC in the coral sea.
  7. were your mates out sat/sun? think we saw them out there...

    Broken Bay 26/1

you bridle live baits; you either chin-rig dead baits (gang hooks thru belly hooked similarly to a pilly, lead wrapped around the shank of the top hook under the chin for ballast) or skip bait them.
  15. I've heard stories of Gregg trying to put a couple of hooks into a live one while 8 arms are slithering all over his arm. dunno if he caught any tho
  16. off the net: Primary treatment involves screening the solids from the water and allowing a proportion of the suspended solids and organic matter to settle from the wastewater. Secondary treatment takes primary treated effluent and with the aid of biological processes breaks down a further proportion of the dissolved or suspended organic matter to a form that reduces its environmental impact if discharged. Disinfection by means of chlorination, ozonisation or UV radiation, is also often considered to be part of the secondary treatment step. In tertiary treatment, the secondary treated effluent is further processed using various techniques including flocculation, coagulation, clarification and filtration. The main aim is to remove nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus and further reduce the small amount of organic material and any remaining harmful micro-organisms in the secondary treated effluent. the septic tanks would receive pumpout i would imagine, rather than absorption into the ground.
  17. bashir: not even a sniff of a tailor that night. needed more swell. narra: you won't see the noahs bigger than that out in the water ; )
  18. hey bashir funny you say you like curly, we fished just south of the lagoon the other night and half the beach was lit up by the floodlights on north curly surf club. no surprise that we only managed one shovelly all night. mid beach looks ok what it being darker, no decent gutter that night tho. south curly also a write off, bloody lights again. you done any good there before...i like the structure at curly but if it's lit up like a christmas tree most nights it's a write off. lights go out at 11pm, maybe the super late tide is the go... DY looks the goods, i've done ok there.
  19. probably chopper tailor feeding on baitfish under the bridge lights, not yakkas?
