  1. HI Raiders, Fished offshore the heads last night in some deep holes. The TERAGLIN were on the chew from just after sunset righ through the night. Caught 8 over 70cm between us and left them biting. Couldnt fit anymore in the large ESKY. BUTCH
  2. Very impressive session there bud! Fantastic live and slab baits for so many species! Out fishing for Jewfish tonight with Mullet slab baits! Hey mate, do you berley hard or just float the dough mix down on a small hook and let it do it's thing? Butch
  3. Mate, you are again the man! Awesome fishing! How did the SURGEON pull? Harder than a PIG? I have heard they go hard! Butch
  4. Yeh nice Groper, to be honest I've always kept the Cuttlefish for bait. Looking forward to testing them out! I have seen a few Cuttlefish FLOATING too, so I reckon that what has put the Snapper on again. Butch
  5. Yeh thanks Ray, looks like we will both be eating snapper this week! How did your snapper go? Crumbed? Speak soon! Butch
  6. Haha, yeh classic! hope it will rust out in a week or two!
  7. HI Raiders, Motored out around the heads this morning to a little reef GPS Mark I have - 25m of water. Started cubing and within 1 hour the snapper started, just pannies around 40cm, landed 4 legal ones. Put the squid JAGS down on a paternosta, landed good cuttlefish for bait and dinner. Shortly after we hooked 2 SCHOOL SHARKS, around the 90cm mark. Kept 1 for dinner. Its amazing what starts coming around the boat when you cube and berley hard! Butch
  8. Yet again blown away! You are the man Ray! Love your posts big man! Butch
  9. Thanks Hodgey, Those photos are the same fish bud. My mate Jake Levy caught the other massive croc and it will be with his post. Butch
  10. HI Groper, I am hearing there are 2 new legislations on there way for 1) Jewfish & 2) Duskys (not sand flathead). Will check it out! Butch
  11. HI Guys, Fished off the northern beaches this morning around the 20m mark, very close gravelly / sandy bottom. The goal was to fish the tide change for Jewfish and berley up the odd snapper/ The jewfish didnt play the game and only 2 legal snapper, however, landed 2 flathead over 80cm. Classic and a little unusual for this spot. Butch
  12. You are the man Ray! Stoked for you legend! Nice reds there mate, especially for inside the heads! Love it Butch
  13. HI Raider, Went chasing Jewfish off Sydney with TAYLOR FILLETS yesterday arvo. Plenty of solid Snapper around smashing my Jew baits, hahaha! Butch
  14. Hey mate, nice work! As for the PIKE, next time fillet him up bait. All of my biggest reds have been taken on fresh pike fillet! Also, PIKE heads make amazing SNAPPER BAITS! They are outstanding!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER EVER THROW BACK PIKE - THEY ARE OUTSTANDING! Butch
  15. Gday mate, doesnt take very long from the longy boat ramp, however, be aware it needs to be dead flat to launch otherwise its completely dangerous. Cars slide into the surf here, as it's a beach ramp, covered in moss. From Tunks park, it's probably a good 5kms. Butch
  16. HI Austral, The depths we have been landing some big ones is around the 20m mark to 30m mark. Not very deep this time of year till the water warms. Butch
  17. Yeh Jez, mine is only 4m. Centre console, alluminium, 30HP 4 STROKE. The thing with smaller boats, is it makes the treacherous longreef boat ramp more manageable. I have heard of cars sucked into the water by the surge, so a small light boat makes it a lot easier. Boats get banged and scraped everyday off long reef boat ramp, and a small boat is more easily manageable! Butch
  18. Hi Mate, I didnt notice any EGGS mate, however, heard from some local fishos they are spawning. How long does the spawning run last mate? They seem to be hitting baits with more agression than a month ago Butch
  19. G'day chris, Plenty of berley stil gets through the sweep, that always concerns me, however, when you open the snapper up, they are often full of berley. So it still gets through them... Another option is berley bread on the surface to keep the sweep pre-occupied and throw cubes away from them. Dont let the sweep decieve you, they look like they grabbing all the berley, however, they have small mouths and only nibble on falling berley. Butch
  20. HI Raiders, Fished longy Saturday morning from 4am till 7:30am. Usual methods, work the reef for squid, then berley and wait for the reds to play the game. 25mins into berleying, the small outfit with 10lb mono screams off, close to spooling we lock up, and ping! all over. GOOD RED LOST! BIG HEAD SHAKES! Landed a couple more reds around the 60cm or so and some pannies. Nothing special, however, good to see the water spring up over 18degrees!
  21. FAR OUT MATE! That is a scary image! It would probably flip my boat with one roll! Shivers! Butch
  22. Wow, I was told that before too Jim, however, I am yet to see it play out. They are wild creatures the Makos!
  23. Hi Pete, Yeh bud, i cut just below the head, make a small cut in the tail & and trim the gills a little. I then get a rope and tie the fish off so the bloods runs outside the boat (Beats filling the boat with blood as it flows quit fast from the MAKO'S). The guts smell really bad too, so it's an option to gut them whilst the fish is hanging under the water, to reduce the fumes! However, in saying this, I am no expert and there is probably better alternatives out there for them! Regards Butch
  24. HI Mate, We always berley at anchor, let the current do it's job and take the berley away from the boat. We have been fishing around the 20-30m mark - more likely the 20m mark. Interesting to note however, the MAKO was caught in a zone on the reef where there was not much current running. Thanks Butch
  25. Haha, what a classic, old wives tales! Love em! To be honest, I get my biggest reds in the coldest months of the year, JULY, AUG - in close from as shallow as 15m. It seems that as the water warms, the Big REDS move into deeper water and take more berley to coax up! Just my observation though, not gospil. Butch
