  1. Sorry stew ! forgot to mention that I managed to benefit from an honest mistake by stewy. With out stew the ipilot wouldn't have happened. Thanks to a mistake ordering & some follow up research on upgrading the older v1 motor to v2 stew helped it all happen thanks mate!! legend!! Hope you get yours soon.
  2. Finished upgrading my 55pound minn kota electric v1 to a v2 then added ipilot on wednesday. Was stinging to test it on the water after a successful initial testing in the garage. Decided to hit the georges up around the moons on the runout tide with 15knot winds & good mate odin. With no real intentions of fishing to hard just testing out & learning. Odin being a noobie to fishing chucks out his 2.5 inch berkeley grub & gets smashed & turns to me & said i think i have a fish?? hang on no I dont!!! Yes you do mate!! He gets it to the surface for me to net & its a bloody stonker! high fives all round. Much to my suprise it only came in @ 34cm but that measurement did this fish no justice. Refer pics. After seeing odins fish & the excitment in his eyes it inspired me to fish hard & in the process nailed 6 bream & one lone flatty, much to odins disgust he didnt pick up another fish the rest of the arvo. With 5 keeper bream & a flatty decided to give the track record on the ipilot a test around the bank of the moons & boy was it a treat. If anyone is considering getting an ipilot? My advice would be don't waste another second!! I came home & asked my wife for a divorce so I could marry my leccy!!! Anyway the family plus odin had some fresh bream & cold beers for dinner last night to top of a great day..

    random trips

yeah mate u can throw in down at cobbity bridge or wallacia bridge. There is a very popular spot at Castlereagh off Devlin road where u can smash bass all day if u want, not alot of big ones though
  4. Hey guys been a while since I posted & I'm sitting at home watching one of the little ones & wondering what happened to sri lankan cricket?? Hope you all had a great christmas with plenty of new fishing gear provided by your loved ones. Haven't been out much recently, a couple of nepean bashes one from yak & one quick land based just to scratch the itch. Got the bass from the yak @ cobitty on a purple 1/4oz tt spinner bait mid morning that went 45cm followed by a couple more rats. Got the other bass land based on a 2.5 inch bloodworm zman grub @ the weir that went 39cm & went like the clappers on my 2-5kg stick and again a couple of smaller ones which I didn't bother taking photos of that were caught on my favourite tiemco soft shell cicada. The other fish caught were from the Georges around the moons on the run out tide. A few more under size flatties were caught & about a million tailor. All caught on 65mm bloodworm or lava wrigglers. The ep was on stewies favourite wasabi!!! they do love em mate. The last trip I went on from the boat didn't involve a camera but provided 8 solid bream that smashed any smaller plastic in pink again on the run out tide in the lower Georges. It was good to see the maritime out in force doing their safety checks.Tight lines & a happy & safe new year to you all.
  5. there is supposed to be a few carp in the lake at harrington park, very family friendly. Walking track around the lake & a couple of kids playgrounds.
  6. Was stinging to wet a line last week & the only opportunity that presented itself was on friday.. Yuk!! so the boat stayed in the garage & I headed down the river with my carp tackle. Hadn't tried carp fishing in the cooler months & wasn't sure what to expect?? After My recent form of a couple of donuts & the odd fish busting me off or spitting me out up the georges I was starting to doubt my mojo would ever come back. After an hour of chilling out & keeping out of the wind I had my first bite WHACK! yeah baby! my first fish was the smallest of the three caught & surprisingly gave me the most curry. I fought this fish for a good 3 or 4 minutes. After a half dozen good runs I managed to lip grip the bugger, Which I might ad isn't easy on your own. Mojo coming back?? Yep! In the next 40 minutes I nailed 2 more each one bigger than the next. I didnt have anything to measure them with only the scales in my lip grippers. The biggest went 4.5 kilos. By the time little bro got there they went off the chew. Oh well it was a great little sesh for me boosting my confidence levels back up again. I was using sweet corn on a size 1 gamakatsu octopus hook, size one sinker with about a meter of 16lbs leader & 10lbs braid. Seems to me these fish go harder in the cold?? Is it just me or is this the case??
  7. launched at alfords point yesterday armed with the usual arsenal of plastics and hard bodies. started flicking the last of the runout at the bridge with 3/8th ounce jigheads & 5 inch powerbaits in hope of a jew or some flatties for a feed. picked up 1 keeper flatty after about 10 minutes then flicked for another 30 minutes with no sucess. moved on around the corner to work the sandbank and opposite bank with 100mm bloodworm wrigglers. we worked our way around until on the rocky side just on from the bank I had a solid strike which immediately started to strip line from my reel!! after a brief fight little bro managed to net this nice specimen. after that we pushed on down stream to fish tom uglies & captain cook on the run in tide, again flicking flicking power baits. but the wind was well up by this point & starting to get frustrating. So we slowly pushed back up stream trollin hard bodies and flicking the odd wriggler with no more success. below is a pic of my brothers ep a week ago from the upper reaches it went exactly 35cm to the tail same as mine. cant seem to find these jews in the georges!! anyone else out yesterday have any luck??
  8. New boatie stupidity stories Funny but with lessons!
  9. Hi raiders, Bought my first boat over a week ago now & seized the first opportunity that presented itself "today". Took my mum out with the intent of showing her a nice cruise on the water, with of course the odd plastic getting thrown around. Spent the first hour feeling my way round using the lecci. Once comfy we set off & started flicking the run out tide. Got onto a nice little bream to open the account, Then half hour later whilst working the lecci I turn to talk to mum & her reel starts singing, After a brief fight she got smoked!!! ouch!! what ever it was it was a decent fish! headed on down stream until I nailed myself a stonker bream on a 100mm bloodworm wriggler. Was a great fight & good experience until a jet ski came flying past & killed the moment! All said & done had a great day on the water & didnt make any rookie mistakes for my first time. Have to thank stewy for all the fishing & boating tips that lead me to the point of owning my own boat & catching fish, and smitty for the sweet ride. Love my new boat & the memories it will produce.... Also there was a good post in the boating section on boating mistakes that was a funny read & also very helpful on what not to do whilst boating. Thanks Stewy, smitty & fishraider! & mum for the great company...
  10. nice report bud, well done to your missus!! hurts dont it???

  13. Hey guys, took the yaks out with baby bro with plans to fish captain cook bridge on the top of the tide to see if there were any jews hanging about?? Then we were gonna flick the flats of woolaware bay. Little bro had a strong hit first cast at a pylon followed by a quick struggle, then up came straight hook, hehe he was spewn.Five minutes later I felt a heavy pause in my retrieve....... I struck & after a quick fight landed this big mamma!! It was caught on my 3-5kg sahara 2500 ci4 with 8 pound braid & 15pound leader.. Using a powerbait 5 inch jerkshad in blue with a 1/4 ounce jighead. I got my photo & swam the big girl back to full health before happily watching her swim back to the depths. I forgot to measure her but I would call it somewhere around the 70 mark. We went on to flick the flats with blades, hard bodies & wrigglers with only 3 more flatties one going 52 cm. No bream though to my suprise!!! I haven't been salt that much this summer been busy chasing bass, but is there a lack of bream at the moment or is it just me???? Oh well bass are much more fun!! had a few good surface sessions lately... but had no camera. I was gonna enter in catch of the month but seems pointless as there is a bigger girl already entered. Happy new year raiders!!!
  14. nice trev there mate they sure do put up a great fight...........
  15. Hey guys, Decicded to take advantage of the break in the weather yesterday & headed out in the yak to chase my little bronze buddies.. Got to the carpark & it was full of vans & trucks I nearly turned around & went home thinking the river was full of yakers. It turns out they were a film crew shooting scenes for packed to the rafters, yay!! I was the only one out. After about ten minutes my soft shell cicada got smashed & the little bugger ran straight into the sticks, lucky for me I was running 15pd leader!!! Lost the fish but managed to get my lure back. Not long after I got smashed again & this time she ran out into the open & after a good fight I landed this very healthy looking bass. As I reached into the net I noticed it was tagged so I got the id number took a quick snap & made sure she swam away to fight another day. The bite went off when the wind picked up so I flicked all the back with 1 more small fish. Bumped into some guys in a canadian & a yak who only caught 1 between them. It has been a little quite this year I put in down to the crap weather. Hopefully it will improve & the cicadas will start singing soon?? When I got home I emailed the details through to the appropriate organization & knocked back a cold one. Oh yeah & i nailed a 44cm a couple of weeks ago back upstream when the water was running really quick from all the rain but no photo. Got that one on a atomic sub surface... Fancy not having a photo of your pb!!!!
  16. hit woolaware this morning with little bro armed with plastics and blades...... within 20 mins of launching at the end of old taren point rd under the bridge i landed my first jew!!!! yay & 2 casts later i hooked another but managed to drop her next to the yak no use crying over spilt milk !! My 1st jew caught at the 3rd pylon at the top of the tide on a berkeley powerbait 5" jerk shad in smelt. I went on to catch 6 flatties around the 40 mark & a whiting all on a blade but no bream??? did anyone at woolaware have any luck on the bream??? I caught a nice 35cm last week which went down well that night but seemed very quite today.. didnt hang around for high tide had to bail, would love to know if anyone had any luck in that area with bream???
  17. try wallacia me and my my bro caught 4 between us on divers and spinnerbaits..... bit quite at camden at the moment, I went up to that weir a couple of days ago on dusk trying to crack my first for the season on the surface with no luck. Wont be long though!!! Devlin rd entrance on the nepean should be starting to fire dont stay near the junction though head down stream over the weed barrier and fish the deeper sections with spinner baits or divers. Good luck wherever you go!!!
