  13. heya all, went for a solo fish friday, floated around here n there, managed to pull up some flattys, a flounder n a bream, great day on the hawkesbury, when night time came i decided to chase some jews and hairtail, the endless nights i tried getting a hairtail last year to come home with ziltch,i was gonna head up to jerusalem bay, but it looked a bit to foggy, wasnt in the mood to get out there n get lost, so just hung around the rail bridge and dangar island, i flicked a softy around then bang, reel screams, head shakes, we all know what that means, this thing took me around the boat twice, i was giving my anchor rope the evil eye when it was near it, eventualy got it to come up at the back of the boat, little jewie at 72 cm was netted, was pretty happy with that effort, went quite after that, so moved to another spot and put out some fresh tailor fillets, to kick back n vege out, typicaly wasting time n tackle to the catfish n eels, after an hour another twitch on my rod, said here we go again, starded to reel it in, felt a bit different, this time there was a bit of a fight, but still thought big eel or ray, got him up close, as soon as the moon light hit this long silver thing in the water i knew what it was, my first hairtail wasnt a monster but still was a moment to remember, 5 min later my other rod went off, was thinkin were theres one hairtail theres gotta be at least two, this thing felt big, aggresive head shakes and violent pulls, was only using 10 pound braid n 15 leader, i had a couple of bust offs earlier by gettin to excited so this time i was playing it safe, no joke fought this thing for an hour, one of the best tug of war games ive had, i really didnt want to lose this one, then comes up this at least 2 meter demonic lookin pike eel, this thing looked like it wanted to kill me, it was pissed off n so was i really, but it was still a fun battle, it looked like a big snake in the water ready to lunge towards me, thought ok you win, then it did this massive death roll on the surface n cut the line, then not much happend after that, the fog was really startin to thicken up, so called it a night n headed back, couldnt be stuffed cleaning the fish at 2 in the morning, so went home had a bit of a snooze got up took a couple of pics n did it then, cleaning that hairtail was fun, it was like wiping off silver spray paint off a long piece of fillet, hope it not too foggy next week, looks like theres hairtail about
  14. well done that post was true poetry, great read, great fishing
  15. what was the big noise that caused the crack for the boat to sink ???, a great white torpeodo from the depths, who knows the story is still young, the first thing i would of thought of if i was in that sitch is will i get eatin tryin to swim to land by a bullie or white or what ever, i was once stranded in the washing machine bay with a flat battery that i didnt know at the time(first boat) i know better now tho, same time of night, we yelled for help in between big ships goin past, it was only the fifth time of yellin, we got help from a fellow fisho headin back to the ramp, these blokes were in a much worse sitch ofcoarse, its against the law to ignore signs of help isnt it, if not it should be......
  16. a tailess tale............ there alot of hungry fish out there, i sometimes catch bream with a grown over chunk taken outa of em
  17. welcome to fishraider n oz, have a go at picnic point for jewies, fresh squid in the last lightish or early morning around the high tide is worth a try, even flicken plastics n lures around lighted areas a night, around bridges n stuff works, i usually fish the hawkesbury river, but started fishing my local waters my self, there are heaps of posts on here to give you some tips about that area, just type in geoges river in the search section, it opened my eyes, also have a sus on google maps to check out bridges n what not along the river, follow it from chipping norton to botany bay, theres heaps of spots to discover, good luck
  18. i agree with this one, i do the same, some times i use a little elastic band, lubricate n its easy to adjust the distance from the bottom hook, just make sure both hooks are ultra sharp for a definate hook up
  19. sounds like a bad case of "been there seen that", i kinda understand, but the way i see it if you love a movie say jaws youll watch it over n over again, even tho youve seen it before n know whats comin next youll still get off on it, im probaly goin a little off track here with the movie thing, but i know what i mean, im looking forward to be posting a kingie report myself this summer as reading em and learning from them................please someone start a kingfish tactics, i would, but im a kingie virgin
  20. hey well done on your catch, welcome to the sp n lure world, dont over do it n get too excited like i did n buy every sp n lure that i came across, save your $$$ n buy what you need, theres a saying that fishing lures catch more fisherman than fish, in a way its kinda true i reckon, i never looked back the day i bit the bullet n went fishing with no stinken pillies n prawns, its more of a sport and satisfiying when you go out n work for your catch rather than just sittin there like a stunned mullet waiting for some starvin fish to come across and gag down a piece of pillie.......
  21. ha ha classic, the perfect monday morning........unless a king tide comes in
  22. well done on your catch, whats the go with that smaller king, the pic looks like your were halfway thru filleting it
  23. buy half a dozen or so cheap black n gold or what ever sardine or tuna tins with oil in it, the ones you make sandwiches with, put some holes in the tins n whack em in a keeper net or the like, then put it in the water, itll slowly slick out, when you see em come around put some bread on some size 12 hooks n start pullen them in, even roll some little dough balls n throw em some freebies keep em interested
