  1. A few mates and I went out on Parra last night chase jewies

Armed with fresh squid, pilies and a whole Bonnie we had high hopes.

Last hour before the top of the tide I nailed 4 nice Breambo's (between 28 and 34cm- the 34cm model was really thick) and a few more that were throw-backs

Right as the tide swung to run out it happened-

Eddie's rod was buckled over and live peeling from it, a few minutes later a nice Soapie Jew was landed (est 65cm).

Wind got up pretty strong after 11pm so we packed up and headed home quite contented- even though I personally didnt land the Jew was awesome to see Eddie into another, and I enjoyed some light line action in real close on some good quality Breambo's.

  2. Thats why i LOVE Beach fishing :P

The spots I go to usually have less than 10 people and the beaches are fairly big and open.

Dont think there is anything better than sitting on the sand late @ night with a few  and a coupla rods with fresh bait out- even if the action isnt there its just nice and serene

Highly recommend trying it, its good for ya soul!

    :) :) :)

  3. Boil the wrass up with a house brick and then eat the brick..hahaha

If ya clean the gut cavity thoroughtly you dont get the ammonia/ taste and they are pretty nice with some lemon and herb sauce and a plate of fries and salad.

Nice feed though Tan, well done.

    :0

  4. Gee, thats a LONG way to drive for a fish!

I thought driving from Lane Cove to Gosford or down to Port Kembla was a long drive.

I have chartered off Shoalhaven Heads a few times and its a very nice peaceful area, but we go down the night before and stay in accomodation.

Sounds like a fun trip and that haul would have been mayhem on light line!

    Great feed :)

  5. Sadly its a very familiar story for majority of wharves on the Parra and Lane Cove Rivers- junk and left over fish scales, bait containers and bags, line all over the wharf and the worst part is seeing the discarded hooks lying in full view of both commuters and children.

I now dont fish wharves like Kissing point (I used to live in Ermington and it was my local for a long time) because of the stigma associated with late night sessions on the wharf- so I only fish the beaches and around my local area Gladesville.

its sad but if people like that get booted from one wharf they do exactly the same thing at another wharf- inevitably if this continues most wharves on the Parra and LC Rivers wil be off-limits to LB fisho's- even considerate fisho's like myself and my mates who clean up our own and often everyone else's mess when we leave!)

have had the p[olice turn up late night and grill me about illegal wharf fishing (and this has heppened even at KP and other areas) and when i have showed them the piles of garbage in the garbage bags I collect each outing the promptly left me alone to continue fishing.

Advice- clean up after yourselves and then we can all enjoy the LB option in Sydney, and if you see rubbish pick it up (I know its not yours or my own rubbish) but I really dont want to see another peition from local Council to ban fishing from Parra River just as the failed attempt by Lane Cove Coucil to ban night fishing a few months ago.

If you still dont like it then maybe find another spot like I have then I have no reason to complain nor clean up after anyone else for tyhat matter- just me and my own rubbish which only consists of bags as I keep all my bait in containers and they are re-used.

There are plenty of action items we can all do to make our sport more repuatable and respected in the wider community if we all chip in our bit and show we have the communities interests and our own in check!

  6. Went fishin with my Mrs old man tonight in Lane Cove River

He's a handline only fisho so I only took 2 small rods (my bream Rod and my new okuma Graphite with Shakespeare Agility 2000 with 8lb braid).

I also has small handline with 12lb on it and a size 4 long shank

I took the beach and he went around the bend further.

First cast got a good strike on the Okuma- and a small run, then in came a little but legal Bream.

After trying to dehook him with no success I decided to keep him as he had fully swallowed a 1/8 jib head that I put a strip of mullet on.

The water was alive with activity, and not mullet or bait jumping, but lots of swirling and fin activity in the light

Next cast produced a better fish, he took 3 lively but powerful runs then i set the hook, he darted left, then tried to come straight towards me, then back in towards the structure.

Got him on the sand and fine 32cm Breambo was flashing in front of me

    YIPPEE!!!!

Rebaited and next cast- you guessed it! ...

It got SLAMMED real hard the rod jumped off the wharf I was using as a holder and almost fell in the drink!

This one was a bit of a pushover he came on the sand pretty quickly.

He was just bigger then the last one going 33cm.

Action was slowing down now but I still managed to get a honker of a fish that went 39 on the nose! -

he took a sibiki rig with a little strip of squid tentacle and we went BERKO!

Running all over the place, he took a bit of drag too in real short but sustained bursts.

Up until now my bream rod with live poddy wasnt touched.

I finally got the run I was waiting for on the poddy, and it turned out to be the same brother of the other 2, this one went 33cm also.

It was the top of the tide (11:30) by the time I landed the last one and the Father In Law had only 1 run on his famous mullet gut, lol

We decided to clean the fish and come home.

Great night tops off a week where I nailed my new PB Kingie with a set of good Bream from a very local spot on the LCR.

    Will post up piccies tomorrow.

  7. Just head out of the harbour and off South Head you will see all the boats- thats where it is.

Be wary of a weekend its like a car park- easier going mid-week when there aint so many people around.

    Good luck!

  8. It wasnt my boat sorry so dont know where Mark got it done, but I suspect it was a custom job cause his boat is fully kitted out with rocket launcher, 2 X side mounted holders + the ones in the gunnels.

... gee I hope thats the correct term for them, I have no idea about boats???

  9. Good stuff mate. You gotta be happy with that. Did you catch the kingies downrigging?

No all the ones we got were while we were anchored over the reef and bottom bashing, they wouldnt take live squid nor live yakka, lol

we used patternoster rigs 30lb and was getting dusted too easily, upgraded to 50lb did the trick!

Strips of squid and bonnie did all the damage on all the kings and Mowies

  10. Ladies and Gents, I went fishing with my mate Mark, Tom and Clinton on marks barcrusher yeterday.

Went for squid in middle harbour and yakkas then off the heads for a troll

    got 3 bonnies straight up

I lost something that bit me clean off after 2 spectacular leaps

Headed off the heads to the kingie grounds and I managed my first legal kingie going spot on 65cm, then a few drops later I got one that went 76cm

    2 PS in one day

Also got a honker 3kg Mowie and a wrasse

We got dusted a few times and I had 3 hooks straightened (time to get better hooks I think), got dusted a few times aswell.

    In total we got:

    3 Bonnies

    5 Kingies between 65 and 78cm

    2 Mowies

    1 Wrasse

+ a heap of Red Rock Cod, Bakers and other undesirables.

Had a great day out and met a coupla new lads.

    Here is the piccie

  11. Thanks..

Yeah they were pretty constant once the sun was up... Unfortunatley nothing of a size worth keeping..

Anyone know what type of crabs they are??

They would be sand crabs mate.

Good haul of Sambo's and very nice Breambo!
