  1. Try Kurnell along Silvers Beach between the groynes. Plenty of sand and weed patches. Top of tide and the run out best and you can catch good flathead there and it is quiet. Best in light wind conditions but of the breeze is from the south then it is still ok as the wind will be at your back.
  2. Welcome to the forums . Nice PB lizard there. The smaller versions are great to catch and nice to eat too. Look forward to seeing more posts and pic's. Pete
  3. The Bay has definitely improved over the past 2 weeks. Caught a couple of bream and flathead last week when I ventured out. Had some land based lure fishing yesterday at Dolls Point (2 undersized flathead) and when south easterly got up I headed over to Kurnell between the groynes. 1 throwback and one PB flathead. 80 CM estimated on a Squidgy lobby on 4lb Fins braid and 6lb leader. 10 minutes in shallow water to beach her and released to fight anther day. Had fantastic head shakes and very similar to a barra or other in shallow water when she had her head up and ripped side to side. No net or grips and 2 photo's on a lousy Nokia mobile which I cannot download. Pete
  4. Flano, Know exactly what you mean. I was out on Monday 9 with nippers, pilchards, burley and plastics. Tried all over for 2 Banjo sharks and 1 50cm Salmon on the last cast of the day near Taren Point Bridge. I too went all over with the above being the only bites I got. Pete
  5. hoping to fish the Bay 30 June if not too cold and wet.

  6. Hi Keflapod, I think I have corrected my profile (but not sure) about PM's. Pete
  7. Ive caught quite a few good size trev's using the Squidy Pro Lobby in lava. Normally a by-catch of going for Flathead in both Botany Bay (Towra and off Dolls Point) and in Port Hacking. Pete
  8. Hi Keflapod, The Nippers were a bit better this week. I was about 300m off the groynes so there was a bit of current. In about 2.8 mtrs of water on an incoming tide but it was closer to high so water movement was slower than preferred. I did use burley but moved around a bit and found that 1-2 fish were on, then stopped. If I get nothing for 20 mins I will move a little way. Peter
  9. Hi Raiders. Out today for a few hours of relaxation. Beautiful on the water although a little cool to start with. Headed over near Kurnell again armed with some nippers and a few pilchards. Started off slow and missed a couple then caught this fine specimen. It went a lot harder than the other weeks 41cm. I thought at first it was a ray by the stubborn drag and only occasional movement felt in the line, then up he came. Followed with a few smaller specimens returned to fight another day and a banjo so moved across to off the groynes and caught these. No birds working and water was just over 16c. Tried Woolooware Bay for flathead on the way back in for 2 throw backs. Total of 7 keepers, with about 10 only just legal fish returned for me to catch when they grow up. See you on the water next week. Pete
  10. Nice work. I agree the Bay has been very good over the last few weeks. Were any birds working fish schools?
  11. I'd say there is still too much fresh in the river. If you move downriver towards the Bay you will be rewarded.
  12. Hi Raiders, Went out for a few hours on Wednesday 9 May to see whether my new spot was a goer after the heavy rains and at opposite tide to last time. Launched at 7am, headed out and at Towra Point came across a few birds working some fish. One cast and into a nice 50cm Salmon on 4lb fins/2lb nitlon leader using a Squidgy lobby..... strange lure I know but it works. Took 5 mins to get him in and released it. Beautifully conditioned fish and over the next few hours I saw many lots of birds working schools of fish but they were all close to shore and some has perhaps 200+ birds. Headed over to my new spot and using pilchard pieces and nippers (as well as flicking the lobby) managed a couple of nice bream at 30 and 32 before they went off and I moved a few hundred metres and was onto them again. They went off so I moved about 50 metres and came up with this nice 39cm. How about these choppers? Then moved to Near the Oil wharf for these 2 beauties Thats a nbr 6 long shank with a nbr 8 keeper hook so you can realise the size. Then as the wind got up moved back along the beach off the groynes and was on to another patch. At one stage 3 rods going at once with keepers, then they just stopped after about 40 mins. Wind got up late morning and was very strong from WSW when I punched back into it. Headed in about 1pm for a clean-up and some hot coffee. Final tally was I kept 14 for meals and released about 10 others 25-28cm to grow again. Hoping to get out again this coming week. I love having been made redundant so I could buy the boat and go fishing mid-week just about every week (without the crowds of weekends) . It was the who suggested I get the boat and make something good out of bad. Now I just odd job as a handyman for something completely different in between my fishing..... I've made some of you very jealous I know . I LOVE my !! Pete
  13. Hey Slinky. Nice session. I too am a firm believer in the yella fella. Had 2 onboard and nearly bagged out on bream in Botany Bay with the biggest going 41cm Pete
  14. Jewgaffer...... hold the stogie and you have it in one. Although I often add hot mix of soy sauce watered down, plus some sugar and fresh ginger and shallots to get that Asian taste. Goes down a treat .
  15. Hi Tony, The area was the Kurnell side of Towra up at the Eastern end. You I think are referring to the mangroves opposite Dolls Point. I have had a few crabs on handline baits over the last month, 3-4 an outing. I was only after bream and flathead this time, I did not get any whiting at all. I did however get a Banjo and a wobbegong who could not resist the crab bait.... I just watched him come up to the bait and sit on it! Pete
  16. Hi Spinner7, Will do, thanks. Pete, Yes was off Towra end into the mangroves. I think the incoming tide was drawing them in on the new water. Temp has been down the last week, Woolooware Bay was only 17.5c. regards Pete
  17. Hi Raiders. Fished Kurnell area on Thursday for the first time in months (just myself) and had a top day. Been having luck in Woolooware Bay of late but was very low tide and dirty on Thursday. Using 2kg or 3kg line and light leaders, caught 17 Bream keepers and 2 Blue Swimmers, as well as a few big Trevs @40cm+ (throw backs as I am not keen on them). Really quality fish ranging from 28cm to a pb 41cm blue nose and a couple of 39cm. Would not normally have kept so many but I owe a few neighbors a feed as the boat is parked in the street and I figure to keep them happy so the boat stays safe and sound. After a few good honest 28-30 cm, then the first of the 39cm and I thought this is too good , then next on the same rod its twin , followed by the 41cm all within 25 mins. . It was a HOT bite. Also lost a greenback tailor about 50+cm at the boat..... bit off the bream rig . Don't know why is was such a good day but perhaps a combination of fishing incoming tide close to the mangroves and shore, where the fresh Cronulla had may have forced them out on the outgoing tide and they were returning hungry. Bait used was live nippers and pilchard pieces, a little burly assisting. Also used Squidgy Pro Lobby in lava. Was in only 1.7 meters and water was clear. Fished between 9.30am and 1pm for the haul. Pic added
  18. G'day Raiders, Wet a line yesterday using nippers and plastics. Various spots with mixed results at each. Headed out at 0615 and went to the groynes off Kurnell for a while with little action. Moved to near the sticks and also slow before ending up well off the runway where I managed 3 keeper bream and many throw backs. After a while tried off Brighton shore for nil then anchored off the Port marker from the Bay to the Georges (off Towra wide) and had a few runs and 1 keeper bream. About 11 I headed towards Woolooware Bay but stopped at a very good looking spot off the edge of the channel between Towra and Woolooware. Very exposed shoreline at dead low tide with exposed rocks etc . Managed 4 very nice bream in about 1 hour plus a few pickers. The Bream were in shallow water just cruising in the slack for some food. One hit like a train and would have been 50 metres away in about 60 cm of water when I stopped him. Was followed back to the boat by another big fish while I played him in. So in the end a good result. Back in by 12.30 with a total of 8 bream from 29 to 38cm. Most on Nippers but had heaps of small beam and about 8 undersize Flathead on the plastics. tight lines Peter Sorry no pics as I am still trying to figure how to downsize on the Mac I am using
  19. Nice one. Were you at anchor or drifting for your catch? I was in the Bay yesterday morning and managed 5 Bream, 1 Flathead and a large whiting. I ended up getting most on drift as I lost the anchor after the rope parted with the chain due to the shackle coming undone--- I'll add some wire or a cable tie to the new shackle! Another boat I saw had about 8 really large whiting nearly as thick as a forearm. Regards Peter
  20. Best allround bait would be nippers or blood worms for your target species. However do not underestimate the soft plastics at night especially around sand/weed patches. Squidgy lobby in lava I have used in the evening over weed/sand for some great flathead whether land based or in a boat. regards Peter (another one)
  21. On the other side, is there an issue with running a 2 stroke on the E10 fuel??
  22. G'Day Raiders, First report although long time viewer. Took the father-in-law for a fish this morning on the Bay. Because the wind was up a little we just fished off the channel marker off Dolls Point into the Bay for 5 decent bream (27-33cm), 2 flathead (45cm), 1 whiting (30cm) and 3 Trevs (30-45cm). Dropped a few we think were bream and released a few trevs. Plenty of little reddies picking. Then headed into Woolooware Bay near the leases for another 2 keeper bream and about 8 undersize bream and another 3 undersize flathead. Fished using nippers, pilchard pieces and also flicked Squidy lobbies (lava) which accounted for the flathead..... they love those lobbies in lava! Sorry no pic's. Despite the water clarity there seems to be some life in the Bay. Tight lines Peter
  23. That's a great site Hodgey. Has Mummaga @ Dalmeny and Corunna further south and the other lakes opened up? Will Coila stay open do you think? Peter
