  1. G'day Jeff I only decided to go this morning. I was going to the boat show but when I checked the weather for the next few days I changed my mind so it's me and allshit Hopefully they come out to play.
  2. Ive decided that Friday looks as the best weather for fishing and I am going out to try and give the tuna a bit of hurry up. So far Ive got myself and one other comming out so if anybody wants to have a run let me know. I'll be leaving from Newport about 9.00am and fishing into the late afternoon.
  3. I'll be out with Ian in the morning on 2 boats Hope its going to be a cracker.
  4. Awesome gemfish and I reckon better eating than albacore anyway.
  5. Not a problem It's a shorter run from there so I can get up later. Next Thursday looks good weather wise
  6. Jeff you live in gods country I wish I could get the wife to move up there and I'd be gone in a shot. That's a first for me to see you can get good snapper on the surface on lures.
  7. Hi Jeff Note the stile I think I've been watching too many hot tuna shows
  8. hi scracthie How far is the almark from port Ive heard it usualy a good spot for winter kings and the odd tuna, might have to bring the boat up for a weekend to try it out.
  9. It's good to hear both bluefin and yellow fin are about and the yellowfin seem to be bigger than last year I'll be out on Thursday weather permitting and am willing to share info if anybody else is out call sign anyfin
  10. Hi vic it was two from three or did you forget about the one you lost at the gaff. Sorry to remind you about that one. Good luck with the barrel you might crack one this year when the blues get here
  11. Its getting about that time of the year when beer should be flowing after a great day out in the middle of the ocean and the fin jumping onto our hooks. I think it will be about another week before this current moves in. I'm going to give it another go in the middle of next week if the weather is ok.
  12. Hi Garfield All you need to know is on this site you've got BOM weather, willyweather and seabreeze. I just keep tabs on all three and you can then make up your mind. If you are new to boating stay inshore at anything over ten knots untill you get an idea on what the sea conditions are like above that. It also depends on boat size and what you are comfortable with.
  13. Ian when you move to fish track let us know what you think as my ripcharts sub ends in December. I will probably upgrade for the remainder of this year then change over at the end of the year if it's a better service
  14. Just listening in on the radio chatter. Heard a Sydney boat that was fishing about 80m east off Sydney scored 1 x yellowfinn apporx 80 kgs last night and a bluefin this morning. Here hoping the current swings in over the next week to bring them in.
  15. When your fishing at places like the carpark during a good bite you learn to live with fishing close to each other. Remember nobody owns any particular spot so just share it and be considerate to each other. It can work in your advantage if you work together.
  16. Good luck to everyone going out . I'm still hoping to get out on Sunday, it all depends If I can get any of our usual crew together. If not we will be out during the week. It seems to be easier to get our crew together during the week when your retired.
  17. This is where the tuna should be running which is a long way out from heatons. The trouble with all this info is the fish dont know about these charts and might just be anywhere so if you dont try you will never find out. I'll be out trying around Heatons on Sunday on anyfin, Ian if you want a ride out let me know
  18. Good luck vic Sunday looks the better day I might get out on Monday and do a deep drop
  19. We use sash weights and if you know a couple of builders ask them to look out for them. I tried pvc tubes with concrete of different lengths and size but found that they are to light and if there is any current you won't get to the bottom. The other option is to make a mould and then use lead, I've seen some good moulds on some of the deep drop sites
  20. Hi vic I think they call them coral perch Ice caught them before and they are great eating
  21. Nice blue eye there I wish I could get one I'll just have to try harder as I haven't got one yet and believe me I have tried It's nice to get someone there first Marlin the smile on there face says it all
  22. Hi Ian take it easy over the next couple of days the weather looks crud to be coming down the coast.
  23. Well done Jeff Good to see there still up there and that your sharing your knowledge around. I'll be trying out at Norah canyons this weekend when this weather drops off. What did you use for bait slimy or bonito
