  1. Hey guys, im just tossing up between the 5x and the 5x pro. The 5x retails for about 250 and the pro around 320. The specs are similar but the depth of the pro is 305 metres and the 5x is 244. It is going on a bermuda 40 hp. I will mostly be using in the bay and just around the headland around botany bay. Im wondering will i need the extra depth of the pro being that i wont go goin more than 2 NM of the coast. 5x PRO SONAR / SOUNDER Sonar Frequency 83/200 kHz Transducer Type Skimmer® Sonar Output Power Max 300W RMS, 2400W PTP W Sonar Depth Max 1000 ft \ 305 m Sonar Alarms: Fish, Max and Min Depth Yes Depth Alarm Yes Shallow Alarm Yes Temperature Display Yes 5x Sonar Frequency: 200 kHz Transducer Type: Skimmer® Sonar Output Power: Max 200W RMS, 1600W PTP W Sonar Depth: Max 800 ft \ 244 m Sonar Alarms: Fish, Max and Min Depth: Yes Depth Alarm: Yes Shallow Alarm: Yes Temperature Display: Yes

  9. Yeah I did put fresh fuel but it probly had 8 liters of old fuel still in it. Is there a way that I can drain the carbies. Btw it's a four stroke, so could there still be oil in the carbi. Thanks
  10. Hey guys, today I took my boat for spin after about 6weeks . Everything was going fine we lauched at foreshore boat ramp and was half was to the oilwharf we the motor started serging. I checked the fuel vent and made sure it was getting fuel. I then decided to go back to the boat ramp, when I got back I checked the sparkplugs, I closed them a tiny bit as per wat the book states. Went back out for another spin, and the same thing. This time I just ran it to the oilwharf as I thought it may just be a blockage that hopefully will clear. On the way back it was fine but as soon as we arrived at the boat ramp it started again. The motor is a merc 40hp 4stroke carbi 2000 model. It seems to me as if one cylinder is not firing at idle and is cutting in and out at about 4000rpm. I'll put new plugs in next week but other than that does anyone have any suggestions. Any help who be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  11. Nice catch there mate, I carnt wait until i hit the bay in the next week or so. Just praying that the weather is good, and that i get this uni work done Cheers
  12. Hi guys, Last night i went out for a fish, everything was going to plan until my okuma bait runner spinning reel started playing up. The antreverse wasnt engaging. Then it started engaging again then when i had a fish on started playing up. Today i removed the bail arm to see what was going on underneath. I relised when i would add a little more pressure onto the reverse lever it would lock, although the spring seems to be doing its job. I took apart the reverse bearing and eeverything seemed to be clean and working. I am just wondering if theses rollers in the anti reverse should have grease? i would appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on this issue.
  13. carnt wait to wet my line:P

    Rod Holder

Hey guys, i was bored in my garage this weekend thinking of what i can do, and i decided to make a rod holder for my rods in the garage. I cut slits into a peice of wood for the rod to slip into and used two brackets to fix it to the wall. Although i was just thinking about it, and i was just wondering whether the guides on the rods will be alrite. Their is not alot of weight on them but just wanted to see what you guys have to say. Cheers
