    Kariong Cod

Hi raiders, While at a local winery on the central coast on the week end i picked up a brocure of a place called Mount Penang Gardens. Apparently it has a stocked dam that is open to the public for catch and release fishing. It is stocked with Murray Cod and yellow belly. Has anyone heard anything about this place or fished it?
  6. Hey any one ever fished the rocks at the northern end of Bateau bay?

  15. Has anyone ever tried catching squid in Narraneen lakes. Seems to be a lot of weed beds but not sure if there is enough water movement
  16. yeh i was towing a fairly big yakka on 30lb line so i guess that makes sence
  17. tried out a home made down rigger on the week end (saving up for a proper one) which consists of a 3lb sotty's bomb and release clip on a nylon cord. Couldnt seem to get the bomb towing vertically (90 degrese) with the boat. I was very worried about fouling the prop. Is this because the nylon rope has more drag through the water than wire cable or do i need to get a heavier bomb? I was only trolling at about 2 knots.
  18. Send me a PM and let me know what type of fishing your into and i will see if i can help you out
  19. Anyone ever kept yellow tail and squid in the same live bait tank? Do the squid attack the yellow tail or do you need to keep them seperated?
  20. Took the kids out on Pittwater for a fish last week end after realising that they wernt going to let me get away with my mid day kip after an early morning pig (drummer)session. Wheather was good so what the hell we headed out. Wasnt much happening on the drift so we decided to have a troll aroung the rocky shore line on the western side of pittwater as i thought we might pick up a few chopper tailor to keep the kids interested. Things looked pretty quiet and then all of a sudden both rods go off. This kept me pretty busy for about 10 minutes trying to stop the kids tying each other in knots as both fish had the drags humming on their bream outfits. After a couple of near misses close to the boat i finnally tailed two very nice spotted mackerel. Never seen bigger smiles on the kids faces........they were exstatic and PB's for both of them on any species. Tried another couple of passes and dropped another three fish when the hooks pulled. Called it quits after a while and decided to get the macs on ice. This raises a couple of questions: Has any one ever seen Macs in pittwater before? What other tropical species turn up around these parts from time to time?
  21. Havnt fished there for about 10 years after a move to sydney. Do they still get the frigats and bonito come through about march or have the pros sorted that out with their nets?
  22. hi raiders, As im still kingyless after a couple of unsucessful trips to pitwater im seriously considering buying a down rigger. As i have never fished like this before im wondering how far back from the bomb should i set the bait when slow trolling live/dead squid? Do fresh dead squid work when used on a down rigger?
  23. There is always plent of bait inside the haven at terrigal including squid so i would that a go first. Im assuming that you are launching at the Haven boat ramp

Hi raiders, Planning on having my first crack at the kingys in pittwater on the week end and was wondering wether it is beter to slow troll the live baits or to anchor up and wait for the kingies to come. Keep in mind i dont have a down rigger as yet? Thanks
