My guess is a tusk fish. We seem to get all kinds of small fish that are more suited to the tropics at this time of year. Ive got alls sorts of tropical species in the harbour such as small sweetlip and even spangled emporer

Hi Raiders, I have been logging onto the site for a while and all the great reports have inspired me to recently become the proud owner of a 15 ft tinny and as i dont know my local water way that well im trying to get some tips on where i can catch some squid and where i should try and feed them to the local kingy population in pittwater. Im planning the maiden voyage this week end and have no idea where to start. Any tips would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Hi raiders, I was thinking of heading down to the creeks off Narrabeen lakes tommorow to try and pin a few bream on SP's. Anyone done any good down there latley now that the water has cooled of a bit?

Sounds like you had some fun too! I got mine on peeled prawns and only 12lb line hence why i didnt stand a chance on the bigger ones. Where you fishing the bottom or using a float? Where is cape bank?

Plenty will disagree but i reakon they are right up there with snapper if you bleed them strait away and get them on ice asap. Beer bater and sweet chillie sauce, doesnt get much better!

After getting some great tips from some of fish raiders i decided to head out to South Whale on sunday arvo to see if i could pull some pigs. It wasnt a really hard choise as it was either go fishing or try and dodge mowing the lawn. The place was chockers full of the usuall prosesion of weekend bottom bashers so i did my best to distance myself and head further south to hopefull avoid coping a snapper lead in the back of the head. I found a nice little gutter and started the berley flowing while i sussed the place out for a while. The bite was fairly slow but once the sun disapeared be hind the cliffs the fish cam on the chew. Ended up with four pigs all around the1 to 1.5 kg mark and had long range releases (bust offs) on another two that were considerably bigger. Decided to head for home when a couple of guys inspected my keeper net and decided that they should try and muscle in on my spot even though there were similar looking spots for 300 metres either side of me. Anyway had a great afternoon and it beat mowing the lawn or any other demestic nastyies the wife could come up with!

A rat is a small (undersize) king fish. the best way to tell a king from a jew is the king fish has a big forked yellow tail as apposed to a big paddle tail. Jews have a lot bigger scales than kingfish. Not many kingfish up wisemans ferry way but there are jew fish, bream and bass. Not sure about the picnic area. Good luck!

Thanks for that Haraka i will give it a go. Are you talking about the high rocks at the back of the pool or further south towards that little cove in the corner. Is the blackfish spot south or north from the spinning outcrop. i noticed a low shelf on the northern side the other week end when i was having a suss!

Hi Fishraiders Hoping to get some tips on the best spots around the northern beaches to fish for pigs that arnt to narky. Im new to the area and strugling to get the local scene wired. Would appreciate some advise from all you rock hoppers out there!

Always the way! Take the net and no fish, leave it at home and garentee you are going to need it. Great effort on 4kg though

Gday fellow raiders Wanted to take my young bloke out for a beach fish in the morning as a bit of a birthday treat and test out his new rod and reel. Can any one sugest where im half a chance of getting him on to a fish say from monavale to palm beach? Any one had any luck out that way latley?

I have been giving the area near the caravan park a hidding over the last few week ends (early morning) and havnt turned a scale. Has any one been having any luck on the lizards later in the day?
