  5. I was thinking of giving the crabs a try around the entrance/tuggerah lakes b ut havnt had a go before. Was wondering if any one can steer me in the right direction in terms of where to try ,what bait to put in the traps and what the laws are surrounding how many traps you are aloud to set. Ads
  6. I use to fish north curl curl a fair bit ................its a great spot but gets a bit crowded around this time of year. Here is a few options: 1)There is a low ledge to the east of the pool right on the corner of the point. If you throw out a garfish (facing SE) on ganged hooks you should be able to pick up a feed of tailor but becarful of the swell and make sure you have got the right footwear on. (cleats or rock boots) Low tide option only. 2)If you go around to the high platform to the north of the pool send out a live bait for a kingie. 3) There are some massive drummer in front of the same high platform that will come up to the surface and hit floating bread baits. Also groper to be caught if you can get some red crab from the rock pool behind the main platform. 4) The is usually a good wash right at the northern end of the high platform that fishes well for bream and drummer but you will need to burley pretty hard. 5) Always a chance of picking up tailor, bonito and the odd kingie spinning metal lures off any of the front ledges. Hope this gets you started Ads

    Kingies On Sp's

Thanks for all the great tips guys............hopefully have a report for you on monday
  10. Well done on the kingie. I did my apprentiship on the rocks at Curl Curl 20 years ago...................good to see it still produces good fish! Try and get your hands on a pike and send it out............I once got spooled on 30lb line at that spot. Ads
  11. Tan, probably best to steer clear of the more popular spots like Avoca and Terrigal at xmas time given the amount of traffic they get. Some other good spots are the rocks to the south and north of beateau bay. You can usually pick up a feed of bream, drummer and tailor around the washes as well as blue groper if you have some heavier gear and can get your hands on some red crabs. I have also caught good catches of bonito spinning metal lures once the water warms up a bit. Forrestors beach is good for an after dark session if your interested in small sharks. It also produce the odd stud whiting. The rock pool at the southern end holds bream at dawn and dusk. Follow any of the tracks into the beach north of the entrance and the beach fishing is as good as anywhere but just watch out the rangers dont lock you and your car in for the night. Hope this gets you started. Ads
  12. I can help out there Tan but need to know what type of fishing you are in too! Ads
  13. Hi All, Following some moderate sucsess bottom bouncing the inshore reefs over the last couple of weeke ends i thought i would try throwing some sp's around some rocky headlands and bombies in the hope of hooking some kingies. Having not tried this method before i was hoping to get some advise on locating some fish and tecniques on working the sp's from some of the more experienced Fishraiders out there!!!!!!!!!! By he way i will be fishing out of a 4.5 metre tinny anywhere between Bateau Bay and Avoca. Any advice would be appreciated
  14. Sounds like a plan Poacher.........have to try that next time .
  15. Despite an election party hangover i dragged my self out of bed when the alarm went off at 5.00. The plan was to put the boat in a terrigal and see if i could jag a few reefies for a BBQ lunch. Arrived at the boat ramp at 5.30 and found the place deserted (strange for a Sunday). Conditions were near perfect so i headed strait out to the drifting grounds off Forresters beach to see if there were any redies around. First bait down and WHACK up comes a pan size snapper. Ten minutes later and the small rod goes off. After a great fight on 10lb line I had my PB mowwie. Not long after i had another another pb mowwie in the esky (51 cm). Next hour was a string of sargent baker and wrase so decided to pull up stumps at about 8.30 due to a need to get on the couch and nurse my hang over.

  18. Taking the new boat out off Terrigal on the week end but dont have any coordinates to test out the new GPS. Does anyone have any spots that are fairly close to the Haven/Terrigal as my bot is only 4.5 metres long and i am not that familiar with the area so dont want to go out too wide. Thanks
