  1. Currently fav is soft plastics, so far they have been great managed to catch something almost every time I have gone out, second to that would be bait fishing as this allows me to relax and just wet a line without moving around to much.
  2. I have chosen bream , they are my fav at the moment, my second would have to be pelagics, even though I have never caught any!..and my boat wont really accomodate for going outside the heads.
  3. Hi all, Have decided on buying one of the below sounders and would like to get your opinions before doing so... The only real difference between the 2 below(links) is that the Matrix 37 is able to give you a view to the side 90 Degrees, as opposed to a 60 Degree on the Fishfinder 565. Do you think there is any real advantage to having a 90 Degree view over 60?, i'm not really sure whether the side angle views can justify an extra $300 Matrix 37 http://matrix.humminbird.com.au/product_gr...cfm?id=2569&s=2 Fishfinder 565 http://www.humminbird.com.au/product_group.cfm?id=2565&s=2 Thanks In Advance Dan
  4. I believe the top wreck may be the wreck in question... 'Duckenfield' A collier of 368 tons en-route to Sydney from Newcastle, the 'Duckenfield' ran on to Long Reef, north of Sydney Heads, on May 24th, 1889. She slid off the reef and sank in deep water soon after being abandoned. Now resting in 24 metres of water, the remains of the 'Duckenfield' are scattered over a wide area. Prominent features include the boilers and heavy-duty winches. 'Royal Shepherd' The victim of a collision, the 'Royal Shepherd' went down in 29 metres of water at the entrance to Sydney Harbour on 14 July, 1890. Built in 1855, the 331 ton collier is one of Sydney's more popular wreck dives. Although the superstructure has disintegrated the prop shaft, fly wheel and large boilers form the main aspects of the wreck which are now covered with soft sponges.
  5. Hi My Deckie(NickoTheFisho) for tomorrows Ausbream just pulled out and is going to Hawkesbury instead, so if anyone is interested as a replacement please send me a PM Thanks
  6. That almost looks a bit like Forster, not sure of the area name though. Pebbly Beach or the Tanks ?(I think are the names)
  7. Would have been a nice day out there today even if not catching anything, got a feed at least. Can I just ask, Did you get the flathead on SPs?, if so, what kind? Thanks
  8. Thanks for the day, not a bad day for for my first social, managed 3 fish with one keeper and this was pretty much my fist time with SPS's and the weather held out which was great. Only one little hitch for the day on was going off the side of the boat ramp heh, and thanks to the guys that assisted me in getting out of that, Sputnik and...someone MickC what a horse of a bream! never seen one so big in my life.
  9. I need to get some new plastics for this weekend social...what would be some good recommendations...I will prolly go to ABA on Thu and grab a few packs of diff types.
  10. Thanks all, I have gained a great deal of knowledge from this appreciate all the responses.
  11. Ok, another final paranoia question, If I store them in the garage on a hot day vented with the car in there, If I then go to start the car or turn the lights on even, could this ignite the fumes? or does this sound veery far fetched... There is a vent about brick size up the top of the garage, and I guess under the person door, and that would be the only air flow.
  12. DaveL, you sure you still want to be my deckie
  13. I was also able to tighten the connections quite a bit more, so hopefully this will fix the leak until I can get some sealant as well, with the vent open it shouldnt leake anyhow. And the front tank is pretty well sealed, havent had a problem with that yet, so should be ok!
  14. Great, now I am really paranoid, am at work its going to be a stinking hot day and I didnt open the front casting deck where the spare fuel is stored, I did open the back deck though, this is where the leaky tank sits and I also have the vent open on this tank. I think I will store the tanks in the garage once I get home.
  15. Ok, so I can leave the vent open under front casting platforms with the battery and with the platforms closed and no need to worry about blowing myself or any other person up? don't the fumes vapors act like gas, so if there is a spark or something. Sorry to be a pain, just want to make sure, new boat and all
  16. Ahh great, thanks guys, I will leave the breathers open then..so its ok to leave the breathers open under the deck?
  17. Got home today and I could smell fuel, opened up where the fuel sits and found that fuel had overflown into the boat. Also that recess in the pic on the tank was full up to the brim of fuel, bloody ell! I have now taken the tank out and it still seems to be leaking from the joint on the fuel out line due to expansion and the tank is only half full, should I leave the vent holes open on the fuel lid? (I thought that was only necessary when fuel is sucking in from the motor), store the tanks somewhere else aside from leaving it in the boat, the boat is under shade and all. Also just as a side note, If I store a spare tank under the front deck, will it be safe considering thats where my Gel Cell battery sits..worried about battery sparks.(or am i being paranoid) EDIT - BTW - Just bought this tank on Saturday and fitted the Merc fuel joint.
  18. Went out today for a couple hours off bayview, didnt get anything, but the live well did fill just fine
  19. Well, I decided to take another look into the live well, as it having only one hole was confusing me a little, so got in there and stuck my head around a little and there was another pipe with a screw cork in it under the ledge which I didn't see. I suspect now it will work when out on the water. Thanks for the replies all
  20. I'm not sure Joe, they said it was working when I picked it up from the shop, everything factory fitted pretty much, even if i attach a hose to that pipe and put it in a bucket of water no water seems to get in.
  21. I have been trying to test if my live well works, and cant seem to get it to fill with any water. I turn the switch on and I can hear the pump running but nothing seems to fill, can I test it with boat out of water like from a bucket with a hose or something, or does it need to be while boat is in water. In the below pics, one of these holes should be the water intake? The pipe in the live well is only to drain..if I pull it out the water will drain, had to pull it out when I picked the boat up as there was still a little water in there..so it would appear it had worked. Is there a trick to getting it to fill
  22. Well went and got the jack, but didnt end up using it, just bashed them out with a piece of thick wood that I was going to use under the jack Although I think I might oil it a bit make it slippery. Thanks for the advice guys.
