  5. Well done "Dad Smasher". Just remeber who taught you to fish in the first place. Hats off to dad, Well done David and Andy.
  6. Did bill finish relieving himself while he was in the drink hehe!!!
  7. Mate looks like fun. But ive gotta say you guys are nuts. No way you would catch me out there. Well maybe ten years ago. What a buzz to catch some nice sports fish from a kayak. Better luck next time with the marlin. What would of you done with it if you managed to capture it? cheers b
  8. Nice squid. Tell me, as I have never tasted kingies before. But do you think a feed on a kingy is better than a feed on squid. My first choice would of been the squid but then again I havent tried kingy. cheers b
  9. Matty, Id prefer cooks over port botany, easier ramp and more secure. If you managed to launch and retrieve your boat at moorebank, you shouldnt have any difficulties at either of the two ramps. Anothe nice ramp is Oatley, its best of both worlds. You can fish the bay is weather permits or head up river and your in the middle of both. cheers b
  10. Grant Sounds like you have found the simple life. Your report sounds so relaxed. So is there a rod and rod holder permanently sitting in the back yard. Morning coffee would be a dream out in the yard. ahhhhh
  11. Bad luck mate. We have a rule on my boat. If its time for cofee then its all rods in. Cant remember the number of times weve sat for snack and cofee and the rods go berserk. cheers b

    Help

Yes smash the octopus on the rocks for about 15-20 minutes. Then you need to splash some water on the rock and rub the octopus on the rock like you would if you where polishing the floor with a rag. You should start to see the colour of the octopus get patchie just like when you have sun burn and start to peel and lose your colour. You know the octopus is ready when you can grad two legs and pull them apart and the webbing inbetween tears easily. Dont forget to pull the hood/head inside out and pull out its inners. You just need to put your fingers in the openning and literally turn it inside as you would a sock. Now its ready to be eaten. Make sure you spend the time to do it properly. It will be the difference between a beautiful octopus and a rubber tyre. cheers b
  13. I would of jumped in and wrestled with it. Knife clenched in between my teeth and all. Like you said at least you got to see it. Otherwise you would of been lying in bed going I wander what it was, I wander what it was. At least now you can say f%3$ I lost the damn jewie. How well did the flattie taste with the sandal?? At least now your G'd up for the next session. Well done, better luck next time.
  14. Got her on kakoda 5cm gold grub . First cast on that plastic. Funny enough the other day I came home from workand the mrs' says I went to+_+_) today and I bought you some lures. 15. Went out for my usual daily fish at sawmillers during my lunch break. God was I blessed. Usually I only catch the good old flatty down there but today was to be different. Nibble nibble then strike. ZZZzzzzzzzzz what the !!!. 2kg line no chance im going to get sliced here. Zzzzzz more line. Ok im not going to land this but just let me see it. Then i see a flash of white. Oh shit its a ray. Started to get some line back no its the biggest bream I have ever seen in my life. By now I was shaking. Zzzzz off he goes again. Didnt help that it was low tide and a million weed beads for it to run into. Eventually I won and managed to land him. Not sure how long he was but hay I didnt care. Woooohoooo happy days. Anyway back to work. Oh and he got to back in, fish this old deserves to live another day.
  16. Nicely written report. I enjoyed that. With the boat smelling of fuel, your probably lucky you lost the smokes overboard. cheers b
  17. So close but yet so far. The intententions where there. We put in at moorebank and flew down to the Bay. I shouldnt of had a shower that morning as the chop in the bay did a good job getting us wet. Cruised along the coast looking for fellow raiders and there they where. But why is there no other boats. Anyway lets beach it and register. By now we have a few curious onlookers. The boats turned sideways and is getting bashed by the waves against the sand. Now theres a hole bunch of bemused raiders looking on. Bugger this is to hard basket. Out we get turn the boat around and head back up the river. Spent the morning fishing and even manged to score a feed. it was a shame I dint get to catch up but at least i made an appearance a pretty crapy won at that. cheers bill
  18. Ross Bastik and deckie would love to join in on the festivity.....just checked the week forecast and they are predicting rain. Thats a good sign as they usually get it wrong cheers bill
  19. Bravo!! What a top feed. I like the way you have symmetrically laid out the fish too. Need to get myself on of these downriggers you are all talking about.
  20. Since this has doubled up as the raiders christmas party Hands up who thinks Stewy should be in a santa suit for the day!!!!!
  21. Lasty, They have been working a treat for me on flatties. Like you said for $4 your laughing Jig heads normally cost you $6 a pack + another ten for Sp. You cant go wrong with the Kokoda 'mad shads'and they catch!!
  22. Grant, Should i be rigging up for a Jew. Do you think I can can squeeze one in on my lunch break??
  23. Looks just like EP. Whats it doing in sydney harbour.
  24. Ladies and Gents We caught this fish on our lunch break in sydney harbour (McMahons Pt) the other day. Asked around the office and did a bit of a google search but still unsure to what it is. Fish was about 40cm, silver and just under a kilo. Distinctive spike on the gills and a broad tail. Fish took a 7.5cm shad. Photos not that great!! Any Ideas??? cheers b
  25. Guys This is what i found Habitat: Sheltered and moderately exposed reef, sand; 0 – 50 m depth Distribution: WA to NSW and around Tasmania Maximum size: Length to 280 mm Comments: Also called Porcupine fish. When threatened, the fish inflates rapidly with outward facing spines. This causes eaten fish to become lodged in the throat of predators. Maybe I should enter in fish of the month. This thing wasnt far from 28cm. Went down today again. Managed one flatty about 38cm. Thank you Tiger Shark and Penguin for your comments. Thats what a bloke gets for been a closet member for almost a year reading FR religiously. Finally decide to add a bit after feeling like i know you all and i get slamed. That doesnt happen on FR. Back in the closet for me. hehe
