  6. Headed out on the river today for some R & R. With so many boats on the river I opted for the channel that is opposite Deepwater park, Williams creek. Ive never been up there before so i was adventure bound. Tried blades, minnows, sx's and the rest for a lot of throw back breams. Still good fun. At least im getting better at the technique. At the end of the day my biggest and cheapest lure did the trick. Managed a very nice bream which bolted like the clappers and sent be under a submerged tree. I waited and eventually he came out. got him in and took a couple of photos and off he went. I reserved him for another day. Next cast and bang im on again. This time im been taken for a ride. This is the part about the one that got away. Finally i see him. The GOD of lizards for me anyway. Been conservative he was at least 800mm. No gaff no grips. What now!!!! Fought a little more and kept my tip down so he wouldnt start dancing. Got him along side me then one last run and PING!!!! Bugger. All i wanted was a photo mrs fish. There is always next time. What a nice relaxing day out there especially after all this wind we have had. Plus I found another getaway hiding spot. Lifes good cheers bill

  11. Well after some words from Stewy last night over the phone. I set out on a mission today. To catch my first Jew!!! Let me say that I have never ever even seen one in the flesh let alone catch one. Went down as instructed by Stewy and after sounding and flicking for a couple of hours with nothing thought bugger this lets go try using blades. Got a couple of hits but no hook ups. I noticed a boat had shown up where I was flicking earlier so i peddled over and watched. Wack !!! his on. Nice Jewie. I couldnt believe it. I ended up going up to them to have a chat. Turned out to be Musty. A few tips from Musty and he gave me a couple of his chosen plastics (Thanks Musty) and I was back into flicking. I am on my own again now and before you know it. WOoooohooooo Im on.!!!! Sh*t what do i do now!!! Please dont come off, PLEASE!!! Had him boat side and i could see he was well hooked so I knew I was going to be ok. No giant but mission accomplished. I wanted to pull out my phone and take some photos but thought, No way i might loose him, I opened my hatch and in he went, that was number 1 for the scoreboard. A couple more Wooohooos and I was one HAPPY MAN!!!!!! Musty came back and kindly took some photos for me. I kept at it for another hour or so but no more. Me thinks lets go back tomorrow to see if we can do it all over again. Life is good!!!!! cheers Bill

  22. Thanks all for your replies. Well im here and i ventured to a place called davenport yesterday, which is across the harbour from CBD. I stumbled on it after going to to wakXXXX island. (forget what its called, sorry) Saturday there was a handful of fishos on the jetty so I thought to myself comeback on sunday. I picked the day!!! I was blesses with 100 little yakkas (kids) all participating in an under 12's fishing comp on the jetty. Kids everywhere!!!! Didnt throw a line in as it was more like knitting comp rather than fishing as the kids where getting tangled left right and centre. I ended up helping out a few distressed parents, and overall was great fun. Was really good to see so many happy kids, and a couple of grumpy ones. Well organised event with tickets given out for each catch regardless of legal or not and then those tickets where used by the kids to bid on different prizes. Fish where thrown back in. Cost guard, Life guard and sponsors all on hand to help out. Sometimes there is better things than fishing. Watching the kids have a go!!! Anyway back to work cheers b
