  1. Nice work mate, I've been hitting up the nepean aswell with lures with no luck at all.
  2. Hey Raiders, I'm new to fishing and sorry if this question sounds silly. I have a 6-10kg Silstar Crystal-tip rod equipped with a Okuma Vecta VT-55 reel. I bought this set-up for lures & plastics to use off wharves, rocks, etc.. but I will now be using this as my boat rod. I will be fishing the harbour, sydney heads, botany bay. I will be fishing for kingys, snapper, salmon.I was thinking spooling half 20lb mono, half braid and leader at the end. I need advice on what pound braid I should put on my reel and does brand matter? Much Appreciated, Jake
  3. Ok, thanks for the good information guys ! I'll have to go out and grab some blades and flick 'em around.
  4. Ouch ! That's some crazy stuff..
  5. Cheers for that Stewy, This now gives me an excuse to buy another rod Thanks ! Jake
  6. Sorry, I'm relatively new to fishing mate. I will be targeting bream, snapper, trevally, flatheads. I havn't actually gone out and got any hard body lures but I will be getting blades, poppers, minnows and crankbaits... I hope this helps. Thanks, Jake
  7. Slinky, What if I was to downgrade to a lighter pound braid ? This is the question I asked the bloke at BCF and he told me this was the gear to go with.. Thanks, Jake
  8. Hey Raiders, I need help picking leader for my new set up. Current monofil line on my reel is Platypus Platinum 20lb I have a Silstar crystal power tip 7" equipped with a Okuma Vecta vt 55 reel. I usually fish botany bay, the harbour and the sydney heads. I will be flicking hard body lures around in shallow waters and soft plastic in deeper waters, aswell as using bait. Just wondering what pound leader should I be using ? Cheers, Jake
  9. Bubba, I'm not really targeting a specific species of fish at the moment but bream and bass are my primary choice to catch ! I usually fish in 20-60ft of water, but do fish off wharfs, sand banks, freshwater rivers...
  10. Thanks for the information Fezza, I will most likely do the jig technique.. Do colours play much roll with the switchblades ? Thanks, Jake
  11. Nice catch mate, I also went out on sunday but had not much luck.. Picked up a rock cod and a few small bream.
  12. G'day Raiders, I'm new to using hard body lures and I have a few questions that maybe some of you guys could help answer. I usually fish the harbour around the wreck, wedding cakes, sydney heads (border) and botany bay. I'm looking at the TT switchblades and the ecogear sx40. Are these suitable lures to fish with in the harbour ? What weight switchblade is best for the harbour/botany ? Thank you, Jake
